Parenting - December 2006

My husband and I were talking about it. Even though I got plently of those growing up, I don't feel it's always the best way to deciplin a child. He thinks it is. What do you think?

We are looking to adopt. My husband wants a newborn first and an older child later. And I want to the older child first. He has had some bad experiences with attempting to raise is ex-wife's rebellious children and is not sure he wants to go that route.

If you have adopted an older child, or know someone that has, or you were adopted...please sure your experience with me.

my 2nd daughter like to use force to get her way, she likes to pinch or scream if she couldn't get wat she wants.. I try to talk nicely to her or explain to her but still doesn't work ..I oso tried to use punishment but it doesn't work oso..wat should i do??

your child could never really be happy in life because

1. that child would be wondering why did my mommy or daddy give me away

2. all adoption parents aren't good.

3. and whos to say that your child could handle the fact you give them up so they should give up to on their own life.??

My 7 yr old daughter was chased by a boy with a mask on 2 months ago. She is so traumatized that she wont be alone anywhere ,anytime . She follows me everywhere .I talked to her and tried to convince her he wasnt chasing her he was just running. Nothing helps . She talks about it and writes stories about it too . I have a vaporizer that my MIL let me borrow because I have a cold. It is a little bit older and there were no instructions included so I kind of took a guess at what I was supposed to do with the vaporizer steam medication. I know you are supposed to put it in the medicine cup in the vaporizer but when I was putting the cup back into it's place I had spilled some down inside of there. you don't think this will cause a fire do you. I am so scared to go to bed because I don't want that liquid medication for the hot steam vaporizer being down in the part where I am not sure if it is safe to cause a fire. If you need better explanation let me know I will try to be more specific. I am just wanting to know if this could be dangerous???

I did not grow up here so I often wonder if I am restricting my son's activities. He is usually out with friends every weekend and some week nights. Comes home around 3am on weekends and 12:30 on weekdays. Should I worry ?

My eldest daughter is only 11 and already looks unproportional (bottom heavy). She is about 5 feet and 80lbs, wears girls size 10 in shirts and size 12 in pants. Is she going to become more unproportional as she gets older?

Do any of your children wear diff size shirts and pants?

I'm going crazy... Anybody have any experiences dealing with in-laws pressuring you to have kids? They bring up the topic of having grandchildren multiple times when we see them. They talk about what they are going to do with the grandchildren, and what they are going to teach the kids. It is driving me nuts. My hubby has talked to them about it, but I don't think it will stick.

My son is 9 years old and out of control. He has stolen 3 times in the past two days. Please do not lecture me on my parenting. He does get disciplined for his actions. It doesn't work! I need to get him help before he does something really bad and gets in trouble with the law!

I run a couple of sites and I get children that email me "Hi my name is Sara and I'm twelve" AUUUGG!!! I always give them a lecture about Internet safety but it really concerns me. I tell my friends that when they are comfortable letting their child walk downtown alone at midnight, then it's Ok for them to go on the Internet.

Please explain to me why they are even on the Internet at all? Couldn't you buy CDs for them? Why do they need to be on the Internet?

I just found my 6 years olds hampster dead an i am not sure what i should do. This is his first pet. He feeds him and gives him fresh water everyday by himself, and sings him a song at bedtime everynight. He also has a pile of things that he got him for christmas under the tree that we were going to put in his cage next time we cleaned it. I work a full time job as an attorney, and my husband has stayed with the baby from day 1. He devotes his entire life to her and is the best daddy in the world. I get bashed from other in my community for having a full time job and supporting my family, and my husband gets bashed for being a stay at home dad. This is so stupid. Why do people do this?? Now my daughter started preschool,and the moms that "stay home" with thier kids really give me hell when I do mommmy and me activities, they act like I am some kind of monster because I don't " Stay home".

I was in a store today in a dressing room. This lady had her two children with her, one was crying, the other was screaming. I was in the dressingroom next to her, and it was really angering me/giving me a headache, so much so that I had to leave. I was on a break from work. I hardly even get time to go shopping. I am a lawyer, so I work many many hours a week and thought I would get some peace in the store. I also have children ( thier dad stays home with them), he would never take them to a store and let them scream thier heads off. Why are parents SO selfish, and not even consider that other people DON'T want to listen to thier kids screaming while they are shopping?! It's so inconsiderate.

a young man wants to have somewhere between 5 and 11 children. He current has no college degree,he doesn't have any chilren yet. And he also say's it'd be nice if he could have all of them with one woman. If not, he plans on at mininum to have them and do all he can to be in thier lives.

and I have nothing. I mean we have been friends since high school, and she is rich, well she married into some wealth at least. She lives in this huge asss house in a new neighborhood and drives a brand new lexus gx470, which is expensive. Her kids wear name brand anything, and my kids get jealous and wonder why they cant wear tommy or quiksilver like her kids do.
I live in a crappy run down townhouse that is rented and not owned, I want to live her life cause it seems great. She doesnt work and is a stay home mom and in her spare time she either shops, buys toys for her kids or just hangs out at home, I love her house, it even has a spa in it!
How can I get a life like hers, my kids want what her kids have, like a trampoline, go carts, and video games, my kids usually go to her house to enjoy the nicer things in life.
My home is already filled with love, but I want a taste of the other side!
What should I do?

if their parents did it to the as kids and it hurt why do they want to hit their on kids and AFTER THEY HIT THEM THEY HUG THEM AND SAY " I LOVE YOU" wat?thats so weird and if they wanna disepline their kid why dont they take their video game or mp3 away for a week or ground them its just wrong r parents retarted or something? i just get it i hated getting beat as a kid so im not goann do it to my kids
