the dining table, because she was using it to do her homework, and we were getting ready to have dinner. She got an attitude with me for it and now her mom is upset with me too? I tried to be really nice when I said it. What am I doing wrong?

Next time, bust out the video camera. Most teens hate having their attitude episodes videoed.

nothing! u said the same thing her mom has said to her millions of times, but because u are the STEP mom u get blamed for it all. u will always be the bad one. I am so sorry for that. I know it is hard but it sounds like the daughter has resentment issues with her mom and dad breaking up and she blames u for being in the picture. mom just wants to make ur life miserible just because she can. shake it off and be and do what u gotta do. talk to ur husband about it and see what he thinks. maybe he can tell her to get her home work off the table ect from now on to keep u out off the fire shot. its hard being the step mom im sure. i pray it gets better for u. how old is ur step daughter anyway. she is just causeing drama going back and forth starting crap. just be cautious when she is there at ur home. i know that is no way to live but i guess to keep the peace!!?? I dont know. I feel bad for u. My sis in law is 15 and does that with my in laws and it drives me nuts. id like to slap her sometimes lol. her mom is a BEEP too LOL LOL so i understand

When it's dinner time, it's time to eat and homework can be done later. When there are rules they need to be followed. No one should be mad at you and especially another parent. It sounds like you've done nothing wrong and you're just dealing with a teenager. My boyfriend has a 3 year old daughter and when she comes to my house, she has to live by my rules. My boyfriend always knows that I'm doing what is right and her mother doesn't give me any crap about it. I've spoke to her about my parenting style and we agree. You should have this talk too, it really helps. keeping doing what you're doing and she'll get over it.

She doesn't respect you, and she probably never will. It's not natural for kids to have their fathers replaced with new ones just because her mother didn't want to sleep alone at night. Try seeing it from her perspective. You probably told her to do her homework and then bitched at her to move her stuff. It's confusing- what's a person supposed to do? She's damned if she does and dammed if she doesn't. (No I'm not a pissed off teenager).
