just wondering how much the dad has to pay for one infant child in child support?

2006-12-27 15:10:13 · 5 answers · asked by flyer 3

Scenario: You have a child from a previous marriage. Your spouse's family gave your child some very nice and very thoughtul Christmas gifts. You in turn had not given the relatives gifts from your child. You take your child to Dave and Busters Christmas evening. As the child is cashing in his or her coupons for items, your child decides to spend coupons on the people that gave him or her Christmas gifts. The child decides to do so because it was mentioned to the child that the family had gifts for him or her.
Do you let your child gift them the cheesy gifts from the Dave and Busters award case or do you tell your child that you think it is very thoughtful of him or her to want to give them gifts and encourage your child to allow you to take them to the mall so they can purchase something more appropriate for the spouses family (i.e gift cards music, etc)
Is it tacky to allow your child to give whatever they see fit or do you think children need to be taught how to give gifts?

One problem... they are both hearing.. how can i communicate with them well enough when they get older into teengage years when they use more verbal communication than sign language? Will it create problem between us as deaf parents and hearing children?

This is coming from someone who has neither had children or really been around them, so I'm just curious.

It seems like most people refer to young children's ages in months, rather than years, calling them an 18 month old or a 22 month old, for example.

I understand the need to differentiate between, say, a 13 month old and a 20 month old, because of the vast amount of mental and physical development that would occur during that time period. But, I've known people to carry it out quite a bit further than that, and refer to their children as 40 month olds. To me, figuring out how old a 40 month old would be is like trying to figure out military time. (Although I suppose to someone used to military time, it would be easy. Am I just an outsider?)

Wouldn't it be just as logical to say that your child is two and a half, rather than 30 months? I wouldn't say I'd worked at a job for 30 months, I'd say I'd been there two and a half years. It just seems less awkward.

Insight?

...for their little girls?? I work at a daycare and all day long I am surrounded by girls playing with these scantly clad, over sexualized dolls. I've seen the movies and their message isn't terribly bad but they don't have to look like prostitutes to say the little bit of nothing they say. The appearance of the doll is way to mature for children...the heavy make up, full lips, tiny and often exposed waist (which is so small that the pants/shorts they wear tend to fall off) and large full hips and breast.

Why would parents buy this doll and validate to their children that her appearance is acceptable. I'm 21 and to me they look like whores. If you are a parent would you or have you bought one for you child and what's your feelings about its appearance?

I have three children 9, 8 and 2. My 9 year old daughter is very young at heart but I just found out that she is the last child in her class to..... "believe". She evidentaly got into a dispute with her friends in class about it and told them that she was going to get up at 5:30 to prove it. I found all of this out the day after Christmas when my mother told me that she had relayed this information to her. Well I had told her that she couldn't set her alarm for 5:30 Christmas morning because the baby needed to be able to sleep later than that.... (obvioulsy not knowing she was trying to be a detective).

What should I do say to smooth things out with her? I don't want her to loose her innocence, yet I don't want her to get into it with her classmates. Another thing is that we are strong Christians and I don't want her to question her beliefs in God (if you catch my meaning)

Please let me know what you have experienced with your children or how your parents handled this.

How do u explain this to a 7 year old. We watched World Trade Center together. She was asking a lot of questions and as I tried to explain it to her she seemed more confused. Words like war and terrorist she don't really understand. I know it's complicated anyway, but is there a simple way to put it? Thanks....only helpful answers please....I'm not asking your opinion about letting my daughter watch this.

My present girlfriend has a nine year old boy. He's a great kid, however sometimes he behaves like a spoiled brat and treats his mother with absolute disrespect. I've been keeping my mouth shut...should I say something to the child or is that out of line?

I was watching the news with my 5 year old and my ex husband's father in law to be ( not sure if there married or not) was on the news charged with two felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and my daughter was like that's her ( ex's new wife or wife to be) daddy's mom

Do I have the right to petition the courts for my ex husband not to bring her anywhere where he will be, my ex says I have no right to or to be upset..

Any helpful suggestions would be wonderful and thanks

Have 1 kindergartener, a 3 yr old and a 4 month old. My sister in law lives with us, watches the kids while we work. Need to figure out a reasonable rate to pay her. She's lived with us since 3/06, she had a bed in our kids playroom and paid $300 rent. We moved, she has her own room. She started watching our kids 10/06. Our house bills (rent, pg&e, water, cable, etc) total $2665. I say since she has her own room, her rent should be 1/4 of the cost, let's say $650. We've been paying her $400 cash. So I say we've been paying her $1050 per month. She's on SSI, $850 a month, which she keeps because it's under the table. If she worked, SSI would take 1/2 of her check so I think she should count that $425 into what we pay her since she gets to keep it all. And she can't hold a job. We want to put the 3 yr old in part time daycare to get some social skills, she keeps him in the playroom, no interaction, same with baby. Daycare for all 3 is $1800, part time is $360. We can't afford daycare.

I got pregnancy at 16 so it haven't been easy but I really love my daughter and I will do anything to raise her good life and displine her. When my mom raise me that it hasn't been easy either because she suffer mental illness and she tried her best to raise me with a lot of love but sometime she don't raise me like she should because she was more like my friend than parent, she never punish me or anything, spoil a lot. I am deaf too but I can hear some and speak well. I behave better when im around with my dad than my mom. Now i notice my daughter behave better around with my dad than she is with me. I tried to keep her fun like taking her to park, chunk e cheese, i tried my best to teach her more education and give her love. I was behind with everything so my step mom had to teach me with manner and displine, clean up after myself when i was 7. I do teach my daughter to displine and clean up and good manner and let her have fun. But i feel like something is missing, Any advice to add

my husband is against santa b/c he feels he detracts from the real reason for the season...the birth of christ.
now, i feel that we can encompass everything into the holiday and it's all in how we raise our son. he's only 3 months so we still have some time to get the details ironed out.

i feel that we can take him to church and bake jesus a birthday cake and we can have santa come, but not idolize him.

is there anything you do to remind yourself and your family of the real reason for the season that we can adopt into our christmas traditions???

thanks!
