My mother in law wants to buy my 2 yr old and 8 month old a portable dvd player for a table top and you can put it in the car. I said it was a great idea, but it wouldn't work because when we are driving the seats get in the way, unless I drive with my seat erect, which I can't do. I have a bad back. I told her it was a great idea. I'm going to buy two for the headrests so the children can look directly straight infront of them, I'm saving money for it. She sounded upset. We don't travel much, and if we did travel to families or somewhere else the travel dvd player would be pointless because we would want to spend time with the family. So was I rude to not except a gift idea? I don't need it, it would be pointless. plus my daughter has torticollis, and she is suppose to look infront of her not to the side.

Do you realize that if you are a good parent who really loves your kids, and say you have 4 kids, you get 4 fold in blessings?

But if you are verbally abusive, shallow, and unloving, the curse is 4 fold?

My 15 year old daughter has suddenly started skipping class and failing subjects because she is not doing her work. I have grounded her and taken away all of her priveleges, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I am currently dating my girlfirend who has an 8 year old daughter. We have been together for over a year. and living with each other for about 6 months. The problem i am having is my girlfirend will never discipline her daughter. and she is too stubborn to let me do anything about it. in her mind her child is the greates thing in the world and can never do anything wrong. it is a very sensitive issue with her cause she claims she never wants to hear it. but her daughter is a 8 year old brat. she never listens to me or even her and her daugther is always talking back. my girlfreind always claims that i'm picking on her an what not and that "kids will be kids." I have no kids and have never been married nor will i plan to unless all thee of us can get along. any suggesting would be helpful

I'm not sure what to feel about this. Religion is not supposed to be in the public schools and I am happy with that. My daughter recently has a recital in her class and the kids sang a song with the phrase "god is watching us". Is that walking the line?

The same thing happend in Kindergarten. My daughter came home singing something about angels and the lord watching over her because she learned it in class. I knew it was not appropriate and complained about it because I dont raise my children to believe in false hope. Other parents complained about it as well and the teacher was repremanded.

My babysitter is very good with all of my kids. She loves them and takes very good care of them. She says that she really wants to do a good job of filling in for me when I am not around. Just the other day she asked if it would be ok if she slept with my husband while I am not at home so that the kids would feel like mommy is around. I was shocked! How could she ask me a question like this?? I told her no but my aunt told me that I am being selfish and am not looking out for the kids best intrest. She says that letting the babysitter sleep with my husband is a good way for them to bond and it will make the kids feel more at ease and be under less stress when I am not around. Should I let the babysitter sleep with my husband or should I explain to her that I am not comfortable with this suggestion?? Help please

okay, last night we attended my daughters band/choir performance. Before the choir begin to perform, an eighth grade girl had a solo. Her song of choice was "Santa Baby" She performed in front of about 400 parents and family members, teachers and fellow students. She sang this song wearing a feather boa (black) and used a chair as a prop! I am not kidding or making this up! I was embarresed for her! Do you think this was appropriate, and if you dont do you think the school should of allowed this? or am i just being old fashioned? The audience was left in shock and her fellow students said she looked like she was trying to seduce santa! Granted she sang well, although I was laughing to hard to hear the whole thing. (I was discreet and had to leave the room, along with about 20 other parents!)By the way her mother was video taping and was very proud of her.

I was in there with my baby when I followed through after a night on the brown ale. I managed to grab my lad and get out of there but now I feel bad for everyone else in there. Should I have said something even though it was embarrassing?
