My neighbor's son has a fever, an earache, and body ache. It seems like he has either an ear infection or the flu. She's wondering if she should keep him home from preschool -- she doesn't want him to miss school if it would be okay for him to go.

My kids are 12 & 14, and still make "wish" lists for Christmas. I'm thinking they are too old for that. It started when they were little, and wrote to Santa with their lists. Of course, they don't still believe in Santa, but they still write the lists. They put tons of stuff, some expensive, some not. My husband & I usually decide on a set $$ amount to spend on each kid, and we choose 5 things each from their lists. One big (expensive) gift, and the rest less expensive. These are things that go under the tree, and does not include what we put in their stockings.

I guess I'm really thinking about my 14 yr old (15 end of January), when I wonder if 14 is too old for a list. Actually, even though I've asked and reminded her to give us her list multiple times, she still hasn't. My 12 yr old son has. So, should I just go on with shopping for my daughter and not worry about a list from her, and just surprise her?

What do you think?

I ask this because I saw a woman lighting up a cigarette for her teenage daughter, and they were hanging out like old pals.

I say this because of the women I see who baby talk their two-year olds or bribe them to be good...

Is it really that important to some parents that their kids like them when they get older than trying to shape a child or teenager into a respectable adult?

Listening to your kids is one thing, but actually going out of your way to FIT IN with them is something else, in my opinion (the lady smoking with her 16 year old daughter INFURIATED me).

What are your views on this?

I'm just wondering what other people think of their children's teachers. Do you have any problems with them, do you think they cater for needs well, what is your general opinion about the work they do?

And basically tell you that you're not raising your kids well, that they've got better techniques that you must follow.

I have tolerated my daughter and her beau for sometime concerning the snogging etc...but there comes a point when my younger son and I feel intrusive in their exclusiveness when we are all watching telly or talking. not only that it sounds like face sucking...ugh..I'm no prude but when does this intimacy become unacceptable. I have mentioned it too her (shes 18 and he 20) and now she has gone into a major strop about it. My son is 11 and he gets fed up with them and leaves the room he gets so embarassed. She has the privacy of her own room as well???
I really don't want too see such intimacy with my daughter, am I being unfair??

something...half the time he ignores me.
If I say no, he will just do what he wants.
When we are in public, he acts up, by either crying, screaming, whining or kicking.
Since I cant beat his *** in public without someone thinking its child abuse...what do I do?
I dont want to have to leave the store either, time is not on my side.
Ideas???

My 5 1/2 year old daughter comes home and tells me that she likes a boy in her class. I think its a little cute because they both are in the same class and I thought was just a crush. Now she comes hom ans starts talking about a boy in my sons class 2 years older than her. This scares me. Is this normal or is this the beginning of her being boy crazy? Am I going to have problems with her and boys?

He won't eat, and when he does he just makes himself throw up if he doesn't like it. He doesn't listen at all and argues about almost everything! He was removed from school by his mom because he would scream and cuss at the teacher and just go crazy grabbing other kids stuff and ripping it up and breaking their things. He used to punch me in my stomach(I am 5 1/2 months pregnant), use the bathroom on himself because "he felt like it", etc. until we sent him to live with his mom and she doesn't believe that he knows what he is doing because he is "too young to understand". We get him on the weekends and it is just hell when he comes over. If I open my mouth to talk to his dad, he will stop us interrupt us even though he doesn't want or need anything. I mean, he will throw a fit to make his dad stop talking to me. He runs through stores knocking stuff over. Spanking and time out doesn't work and his dad thinks he's not that bad. We end up fighting all the time when he is with us.

im a mom of 1 and im far from a crazily portective mother goose...portective yes but overly portective? NO! however i bought my 1yr old daughter a bratz babyz movie tonight (thought it looked cute and she begged for it) we got home popped it in the dvd player and no sooner was it POPPED OUT!!! i could not believe my eyes!! is this geared for pedofiles or what?? i dont find it cute for cartoon babyz portrayed as 1 year olds to want to "flaunt what they got" i quote that because in the 5min it was on it mencioned that at least every minuite! now i want to know what the hell does a 1 year old have to flaunt besides toothless grins? just filthy nasty things if u ask me...what a disgrace i think they need to go behind the scenes of whos making these bratz babyz crap and see if they have some secret fetish...because honestly i dont think any child should watch these movies..and honestly i think they are truley geared for pedophiliac pleasures so they can turn around n target babys now!!???

1. Have you ever slapped your child?

2. Does your child have a "bully"?

3. Is your child laughed at in school or public?

4. Has your child ever dropped out or been held back in any grade?

5. Has your child cried over chores or being grounded>

Mostly yeses,
Your child and you need time to talk about tantrums and bullies. If it leads to crying the child might need counseling, sorry to say.

Mostly nos,
Wow! Your child is a great one, you've been talking a lot haven't you? Keep it up! Remember this could all change.

I love my step daughter like she's my own. It's her mother I don't love. She works part time. She gets WIC which pays for the childs food. She is also covered by him for medical. He pays for a full time baby sitter. But her grandmother watches her. She doesn't let him see his daughter on his scheduled time. She's very immature. When he calls to tell her he's picking up his daughter she wakes her up and leaves. She gives him the baby wearing nothing but a diaper in the snow. She's unfit to be a mother, and now he's paying her 750 a month so she can sit on her a$$ and do nothing. She lives at home with her mom so she doesn't need to pay rent or anything like that. We have a baby on the way. This is not fair to our child. Paying her that much doesn't give us much to live off of.

I just recently ordered a direct tv pay per view movie and it was too easy. All you have to do is click on the movie and press buy. I thought to myself what if a kid was home alone and saw a porno on pay per view. They could just buy it and there parents would never know. Of course when the bill comes they will but the child has already learned something that they shouldnt yet. Then when they grow up they think its so easy to pull a girl in bed but dont know the dangers of it. They start to think about sex more and then when they grow up BAM! They are the ones on the porno. So do you think this should be stopped or not? I know there is a parental block but it could be too late. Also most codes are like 0000 and if a kid really wants to see it they will find out. The worlds going to hell in a handcart.
