2 yr.olds will most likely point to themselves and say baby or their name. 3-4 will tell their name and age, maybe a toy they like most. example: I'm Sissy,I'm 4, I like to play with Dora doll. 5-6 will tell their name, age, favorite toy or game, something about their family and school. 7-9 bascially the same as 5-6 with a few more details. 10-11 will tell name, age, height, weight, who their mom, dad, and siblings are, the names of their friends and teachers, their favorite games, and subjects at school. They may also include favorite foods.
Hope this helps.

My three year old: "NO MAMA...my name is Daniel. NONONO...I'm not three, I'm forty seven" he knows who he is, without a doubt, and is wondering why we still treat him like a baby.

My seven year old: "Moooom...can I get a new mp3 player?""Mom, can we build a halfpipe?""Mom, can I get my hair cut short?" "Mom, do these tennis shoes go with this skirt?" Just trying to figure out who she is! She pretty much is between little girl and big kid, and trying to decide if she's a skatergirl or a mallrat. And switching back and forth faster than you could know.

My eleven yo: Ma, can you take me to gamestop? LOL! He self-describes as autistic to whomever listens, because it describes 'who he is and how he thinks'. He also considers himself a 'massive gamer' 'booknerd' because 'nerds are cool, they'll all rule the world someday. talk about autie pride

I am a 7 year old girl and I teeter between still wanting to be a baby and just starting to take those first steps of independence and no longer thinking mom is right.

the six year old I have is always trying to follow all of what his other friends do. They pretty much don't like to be in "the back" of things. They also start getting more trouble at this age and start acting up at school.

My 3 year old says : I am Parker Hughes.
If u ask more pointed questions like age, hair color, eye color he will answer. But you have to ask first!

My 3-year-old nephew would say "me". If pressed, he would offer his first name.

My 7-year-old neighbor would say her full name.

My 11-year-old niece would say her full name and add details, like "I love math" or "I like to pretend I'm a princess".
