My neighbor's son has a fever, an earache, and body ache. It seems like he has either an ear infection or the flu. She's wondering if she should keep him home from preschool -- she doesn't want him to miss school if it would be okay for him to go.

My personal thinking is to keep him home because he might have the chance of spreading flu to other kids. Am I on the right track?

Keep him home. Kids pass germs back and forth all the time yes, but if the child has body aches than I think its best he gets some rest!

If he has a fever he should be kept home because a fever means there is infection some where in his body and if he tell the teacher at school that he does not feel well and the school takes his temp and the see he has a fever the will call you to come get him anyway. So keep him home and let him rest. Hope he gets to feeling better.

fever, ear ache, body ache....self explanatory. keep that poor child home.
sending him to preschool in that bad of a condition, he will be miserable. he will miss out either way.
and don't expose the other children either. that is rude.
that child needs to stay home. he needs a bed, he needs soup, he needs to be in a comfortable environment. don't send him to preschool out of convenience.
missing a few days of any school is not the end of the world. the child's health is more important. preschool is not a priority in a child's life right now. that is a just an option. not a requirement for education. even then, even if it was, the child needs to be home.
no it is not okay for him go. think about it. i cant believe this question was even asked.....

I'd keep him home, otherwise there will be all kinds of germs spread throughout the preschool. And if its the flu and she sends him and the other kids get it, she'll feel crappy! Rather be safe than sorry!
Besides, its preschool, not like its that big of a deal to miss! I'm sure theres no exam he'll be missing!

Why would she send him to school if the poor little guy is feeling so miserable? She needs to take him to a doctor. She needs to worry about HIM and not whether he is missing school or not. Besides, he could have the flu which is very contagious and can become severe in young kids with compromised immune systems. Tell her to keep him home and make a doctor appointment.

If he has a fever, it is absolutely NOT okay. Most daycares would be calling you within the hour if your child has a fever.
He needs to stay home until his fever breaks. So, instead of going to school today, he should go to the doctor to make sure he doesn't have an ear infection.

If he has a fever you should keep him home. If it is for some reason contagious then you dont want the other kids getting it too. Then they will just pass it on and it wont ever go away. lol! Also would you want to go to school or work feeling like that? I know I wouldnt want too!

Yes keep him home. The other kids don't want to be infected. Missing a couple days of preschool won't ruin him.

Keep him home!!! I get so frustrated with parents who send their kids to places where they might infect other kids. A lot of parents do that in our church nursery and it drives me nuts, especially because one of the kids' moms is on immunosuppressants so she really can't afford to get sick. I am very careful about taking my daughter anywhere that there are other kids if she is sick or if I even think she is sick. My goodness, a fever? How could you possibly send a child to preschool with a fever??????

My goodness. If the child has a fever keep the child home. Esp if the child has more than one symptom. Not a very good question any parent with good common sense would know to a keep child like this home. Poor kid.
