I just recently ordered a direct tv pay per view movie and it was too easy. All you have to do is click on the movie and press buy. I thought to myself what if a kid was home alone and saw a porno on pay per view. They could just buy it and there parents would never know. Of course when the bill comes they will but the child has already learned something that they shouldnt yet. Then when they grow up they think its so easy to pull a girl in bed but dont know the dangers of it. They start to think about sex more and then when they grow up BAM! They are the ones on the porno. So do you think this should be stopped or not? I know there is a parental block but it could be too late. Also most codes are like 0000 and if a kid really wants to see it they will find out. The worlds going to hell in a handcart.

Don't you have something better to do than obsess about kids learning stuff they should learn behind the garage while smoking weed with their friends?
Come on just because a kid might figure out how to access PPV doesn't mean they will and if parents are concerned their kids are watching what they shouldn't the kids shouldn't be home alone

It's called PARENTING.... I'd know if my boys ordered a porno on our pay per view.... I'm a parent and I take it seriously. Our computer is in the living room where everyone can see what they're doing on it. We don't have tv's in bedrooms (kids or parents room) and my husband doesn't have pornographic magazines so the kids aren't going to stumble on things they don't need to know about at a young age.
My boys also know all about sex and responsibility.
The world isn't any different than it ever was. Some parents have forgotten what their job is but, for the most part, kids are growing up just fine.

I wouldn't worry so much about them watching it... I mean really. If they're curious, well, the internet was pretty much made for porn. It's easy to find here, and for the most part easy to get into even if you aren't an adult or don't have a credit card.
If the kid wants so badly to see porn, they would go on the internet. The directv bill will come in the mail and the parents will find out, but not so much on the internet unless the parent is super-savvy.
I say just teach your kids to behave and if they watch porn at least they won't have a surreal perspective on sex because you already taught them about it.

what are you talking about if a kid wants to find out he will put a lock on it, my daughter has a direct TV box in her room and she cannot watch any movie rated over pg-13..what are your kids going to be code breakers or deciphers for the CIA..if they are too young to watch a porn then i doubt they will crack your code...if you want to torture your husband you could call directtv and they will block all pay per view from your house, unless you call in or you could disconnect the phone line..then you have to call in to order..i agree the world is going to hell in a handcart cause of people who over react or cannot control or parent their children..but hey that's just my opinion.
besides it is easy to get someone to get into bed..your job to teach them right from wrong

I agree with you. Presently, as I see it, people have three choices: (1) Let the kid watch it with them., (2) Don't have it., (3) Put parental blocks and ask the cable provider if there are optional number codes so that "junior" can't get to it.

There is a parental block feature as you stated but you can choose your own code so it wont be accessible. Make it something that your child wont think of.......like your old girlfriend from high school's birthday or something. Good Luck.

Change the code. Make it hard for them to just figure out. Weve done it for my step daughter. Just dont forget the code yourself and dont wirte down in a place that they can find it. They cant figure it out just by guessing unless you make it an obvious choice of numbers.

well on my tv there has to be a phone line plugged in or you have to call and people who dont want thier kids to see the stuff should put a block on it and be smart enough to use a passcode that they wont guess
