Go to you local DHS and apply as long as he is not in the household they should help you. If you qualify you can get TANF which can either be a one time lump sum of $1000 or smaller monthly payments. They should also help with childcare so you can get a job and refer you to a job placement agency. As soon as he comes back (?) depending on what he is in jail for they may stop assistance. I think drug charges and felonies are the one that make you ineligible but you would have to ask. If your daughter is under 5 you can apply for WIC which will help with milk, eggs, cereal, etc. You can always go to a local church. They usually have programs to help the needy. Sometime utility companies will work with you on diverting payments until you can afford it, but you should contact them before you are late and tell them your circumstances - what happened, how long it will last, what you plan on changing, when you can pay in full, how much you can afford, etc.

yes check with ur local community action they can possibly help with heating bills.. Also visit ur local food pantry as they can help u once a month.Check with ur utility companies as you may be eligible to be put on PIP for ur eletric bill. This is called percentage of income payment u will have to pay a partial a,mount of ur bill but not all of it. There is a lifline plan 4 a phone for u this usually cost about 12 dollars or a lil more and also u should qualify for food stamps and possibly cash assitance since u have a child. Hope this helps u out. Hope that things get better 4 u.

Yeah, I doubt it. I'm sorry...my son's dad went to prison 9 days after he was born. And, I got nothing. The food stamps and state aid are your best bet, but I'm not aware of any help specifically for you if your significant other is in prison.
And, it gets better...at least in the state of Michigan, the child support is put on hold while he's in there too. So, when he gets out, he won't owe you for the time he was incarcerated. Only the time where he's able and available for work.

Try contacting your local Head Start program. Head Start serves low income families with children from birth to age 5. They also can help if you are a pregnant Mom.
Also try WIC (women infants and children). Many people think they don't qualify, but the income guidelines include more families than you would think. I believe WIC is for kids 0 to 5 years.
Good luck to you!

That a dilemma for those in your situation..Social services and maybe some Church groups are your best bets for help..Don't expect to much from him as they don't make that kind of money.
