Everyday heat it about 10 seconds less until you no longer need to heat it.Some babies dont mind cold milk from the start but most will not like it because they are so use to it being warm.Imagine if you went to eat your bowl of cereal and someone had heated it up..you would protest and not like it at first because you have had it cold from the beginning and that is whats familiar to you, some goes for a baby, they deserve the chance to adjust to adjust to something new. Also switching from formula to whole milk can cause some babies to get upset and not accept it so try putting a couple of ounces of milk in with his formula when you first start him on it and everyday add less formula and more milk until its all milk.Three of my kids hated the transition to whole milk and refused it for a few days and my youngest took it fine.My baby is 14 months and he hates cold milk so im at 15 seconds of heating from the previous 45 seconds and he has taken it fine. There is no perfect way to make the switch just go with it one step at a time.

I stopped "warming" my son's formula after he was about 2 weeks old. He just wouldn't wait that long! He made the switch just fine. He didn't care if it was warm or cold, as long as he had it. I tend to follow my Mom's advice - don't do anything those first few days that you don't intend on doing forever. Once the little nuggets get used to something, it is INCREDIBLY hard to "change the rules" mid way through the game. Hence why the munchkin slept in HIS crib in HIS room from day 1. Same thing with the formula. It won't "hurt" them to have cold formula. If you are truly worried about it, take it out of the fridge a little before it's time to eat so the "chill" is off the cup.

Also, even though you didn't ask, here's a bit of unsolicited advice. When you begin the switch from formula to cow's milk, do it gradually. For example, if he is taking 12 ounces of formula with each meal, mix 10 ounces of formula with 2 ounces of cow's milk (whole milk is best for the little one's...they need the milk fat). On the next day, do 8 ounces of formula with 4 ounces of cow's milk, etc. Keep this up until you have completely switched to cow's milk. It's gentler on their systems to "ease" into the switch - kinda the same way you switch doggies from one brand of doggie food to another.

Best of luck...and don't stress too much about it. He's eating and drinking..that's the important part!!!

My nephew wouldn't accept a bottle that wasn't warmed up until about 13 months, now he'll take it either way (cow's milk now). It's dangerous to use the microwave to heat bottles because it doesn't always heat evenly and can produce "hot spots." It's better to use the stove or a bowl of hot water, but I definitely know that sometimes time isn't on your side or you've got a screamin' sick and/or fussy kid who just wants his/her bottle NOW! So if you use the microwave, make sure to shake it vigorously to distribute the heat evenly and maybe let it sit for a minute or two (just like directions on TV dinners).

I think at this age your son will be OK (no tummy aches) from the cold milk, I think it's all about his preference. You may have to ease him into it: from warm to cooler to cold.
Good luck!

It is really up to your sons preferences. You can make a few bottles of formula ahead of time and keep them in the fridge. He will get used to it. I doubt it will upset his stomach at all. He is eating table food by now , I am sure he will adjust . I never had any trouble with any of my girls. My 12 year old started drinking cow's milk when she was 10 months old because the formula was so upsetting to her system and she ate "big people" food so well. Once I took the bottle away for good she rarely drank milk at all. Even today at 12 years old she doesn't drink a lot of milk.

You can try to give it to him cold, but he may not like it.

When my twins were still newborns, I would make all their bottles the night before and give them to them the next day straight out of the fridge. Then at about 4 months my daughter decided she didn't like formula cold, so I warmed it up.

When he switches to cow's milk, you don't have to give it to him cold. In fact, I started my twins on cow's milk and I still warm it up (not in the nuker, in a bowl of warm water). She won't even drink cow's milk cold.

Either way, there is a chance it could upset his stomach--especially if he has a sensitive tummy! Just keep an eye on him when you start giving him cold bottles.

You may want to start him up on cold milk or even warm milk. Soon doctors will be suggesting that you start giving him milk instead of formula. Warm baby formula may put babies to sleep, but i think warm milk will do the job as well with a little bit of sugar for a sweet taste. As he enters the age of one, you can give him some apple juice with a little bit of water added to it ( some juices may be alittle bit too sweet for babies).

hope this helps you. happy holidays!!

I have been mixing my 10 mo. old daughter's bottles with cold water since she was 6 months and it never bothers her. Since your son is used to warmed up milk it may be a little weird for him at first but he should still eat well. I wouldn't recommend giving it to him straight from the fridge since that is really cold, but mixed with cold water from the faucet is just fine. Good luck!

My boyfriend could provide my daughter chilly formula if it replaced into leftover from till now. She did no longer suggestions, yet I specific did. I in no way gave her a chilly bottle by using fact she went from nursing to the bottle. considering breastmilk is heat I figured the transition could be much less puzzling if the formula have been heat besides. She did no longer seem to care, it replaced into all foodstuff to her. universal, it did no longer harm her- it in basic terms felt incorrect to me.

Who told you that its ok to heat formula in the microwave? Never use this method to heat a baby's formula.

Its fine to give it to him cold, just make sure that the formula is mixed well if using powdered formula.
