Never have any of my 3 had the same size top and bottom... unless the size ended in Months! My seven year old girl wears a 10 bottom (or 8 1/2 when I find them) and a 12 top... she is approx 4'9" and 70 lbs, My 5 year girl old wears an 8 bottom (she needs the length in the legs I have to take the waist in a lot..) and a 6x or 7 top.... She is LONG and lean! My almost 3 year old son is just a monster! He wears a size 4 pant, and a 5/6 top (yes that is in boys... not toddler!) He is over 3 ft tall now and weighs in at 42 lbs! Every child is different.... My oldest and youngest have short stubby legs and a LONG torso.... my middle daughter has legs to her ears, but very little middle! Heredity is going to have a lot to do with it.... For example... I am 5'11" and my hubbie is 6'5".... I wear Mens jeans most of the time because women's are just to short.... I have a 36 inseam (length) pants... where my husband has a 34" inseam.... He has to go to the big and tall store to buy shirts that cover his belly because his torso is sooo long! She will even out eventually.... but I don't think any child actually grows proportionately! Good luck!

My 16 month old wears 6 month pants and 2T shirts. She's a little funny looking :-) because she got my long torso and short legs. My 4 year old is wearing a size 6 or 7 already, but she wears the same size on the top and bottom.
Maybe if you buy the shirts the same size as the pants, your daughter will look more proportional...haven't you ever seen someone wearing a tight shirt and baggy jeans and thought it looked strange? Your daughter sounds like a good size...it sounds like in a couple of years when she starts to develop on top, she will be perfectly proportional.

I've got four children and all of them wear larger shirt sizes than pants. My son, who is also 11, wears a size 14-16 shirt and 12 pants. I don't think at that age, one can really tell if the child will become uproportional in adulthood because they have so much more growing and devoloping left to do! I'm sure she's going to be just fine.

Ha wait another year. my niece (who lives with me) is 12 and maturing. She has to wear a size 9 shirt but the size 9 pants are too long but the size 7 doesn't fit her curves of her hips. It is crazy until their body stops maturing for a while. It is perfectly normal. My 11 year old son wears a 12 husky pants but a 14 top. go figure. Good luck and invest in thread and a sewing machine to dart clothing.

You can not judge what she will look like at this age. They are like puppies, one time they will be all legs, the next time all body. Being one size larger top or bottom is NOT unproportional , its normal. Stop stressing over body and looks, you will give her a complex. Make sure she eats healthy and gets exercise and let nature take its course. Your job is to worry that she is a good person.

Most do. My oldest is 12 and wears a 12 slim on the bottom and an either a 14/16 on top or an adult small.
My youngest wears an 8 on the bottom and a 10/12 on top.

At 11, her body hasn't figured out what shape it's going to be yet. Giver her time. My sisters and i went through that too. I still have the worst time buying clothes, but it's usually due to my 38dd chest. As she goes through the rest of puberty, your daughter's body will change shape and will most likely not be as disproportional. Take a look at yourself and her father's mother to get a better idea of what she will end up looking like. She'll probably be somewhere between the two of you.

yep! My son has short legs.. so he is wearing 18-24 mo pants.. but 3T shirts! His body is just like mine... long torso, long arms.. short legs! Everyone is shaped differently.. my mom, for example.. is only 5'4, but she has to wear "long" pants, because she has a short torso, but long legs. Dont worry too much about it.. as kids get older, they dont buy clothes in sets, anyway.. so it doesnt really matter!
