I know it says on the bottle "No added sugar" but I get the feeling it will still rot their teeth. My mother in law insists on giving it to my 2 year old son as he thinks he is a "big boy" drinking it from the bottle but I usually only give him very dilute squash or water. What do other parents think?

My kids are 9, 5 and almost 4. I feel terrible I ever played into this. I would really like to tell them something like "the spirit of Christmas is in all of us and we are like St Nicholas in some way". I just don't think there is an easy way out.

Personally, I rarely got smacked growing up (im 19). I think its wrong (no matter what), if you feel you have to do that, you have poor communication skills, and your parenting skills are probably lacking also.

I read all these questions from teenagers and young adults about sex, and they have no idea the consequences or that having sex totally changes your life. do any other parents out there wonder what happened to the art of parenting? My mom had me at 17 and she made sure that I wouldn't make the same decisions and that I would have better oppurtunities than she did. I worry for all these babies in the world having babies or getting STD's because they haven't been educated. Maybe I'm just blowing off steam but I am curious to see if anyone shares my opinion.

My daughter is 4 years old and in daycare. We receive glowing reviews of her from them in all areas except for one - she 'over utilizes her leadership skills.' We've seen this in situations where other kids are present such as birthday parties and such. She tries to direct activities and hand out assignments to others...including her teachers and peers. We are happy that she is displaying leadership skills at such a young age and we don't want to stomp these out. We would like her to understand when it is appropriate to direct activities and when she should let the teachers do their jobs. She needs to understand when to listen and follow directions. For example, her teacher was reading a book to the class. Our daughter grabbed another book and sat down a few feet away and started getting kids to create a circle around her and she 'read' to them. She also likes to be the one in the class that hands out materials. How can we steer her in the right way without hurting her ego?

I think spoiling your children with attention, love and affection, hugs and kisses and play time is wonderful. I don't think that spoiling your children with toys and allowing them to get away with things just so you won't be the bad guy is right. What do you parents think?

I often feel bad because when I get upset with my six year old son, who mouths, doesn't listen, laziness ect.Lack of respect upsets me the most.I try not to spank, I would much rather not. Any parents have any suggestions?
I try to lecture, and talk. But other days I get so frusterated I end yelling and I worry that it is not good for him. I don't want him to disrespect me or other adults. iwant him to beable to freely express his feelings but not in such a disrespectful way.

My boyfriend dated this girl Monique when he was in high school, they had been broken up for about 4 months when she called him up one day and said she was about 4 months pregnant and it was his. Then about a month later she said it wasn't so he just continued his life normally and never looked back. Well, about a month ago she wrote a letter to his Mom and asked if she would track him down for her so she could discuss the possibilities of him taking a parternity test. So his Mom sent him the letter and it even had pictures of the little girl in it. So Jesse decided to pay for the parternity test. He ordered a kit and we both met with Monique and the little girl to do the test. He sent it off and should have the results by this Thursday. I am almost sick over it but I am not showing it to him. I am being supportive and I am glad he is doing it cause that would be sad if the little girl didnt know her Dad. How do I handle this if it is his cause everything is going to change between us?

ok so my 1 year old goes with his father every Tuesday, Thursday and every other weekend this is not court ordered just something we set up togehter. i recently started getting child support from Brandon (my son's dad) i have only gotten 58 dollars in all since he started so that proves that it is still pretty new. my question is, everytime my son is about to go to his dads, Brandon tells me that i need to feed him first because "that's what child support pays for" i have to give him milk when i take him to see him and diapers and just about everything. this last weekend Brandon had him and called me at 1 in the morning he was in another town where is parents live pretty far away from where i live, he called to say that i needed to bring him diapers. my question is, do i really have to do all this because he is giving me child support, right now i am paying for everything with my own money cause like i said i havent got much from him. what should i do. is he right?

Ok...here's my story.

My wife and I have 2 sets of twins. I work during the day, and she at night.

The first set is girls, age 6, the second set boys, age 2.

The boys go to bed at 8, and are up EARLY every morning. (No later than 6:15). How do I keep the boys from waking up so early so my wife can get some sleep when she gets home at 1:30am, and I leave for work at 6:30am?

We could leave the boys up longer, but after they go to bed is the time we get to do things for ourselves, as well as clean the house, and help the girls with their homework.

Any suggestions on keeping the boy sleeping?

My son is 5-yrs old, I also have a nephew the same age. For some unknown reason my mother and grandmother favor my son and treat him as if he is the prince of the land. They do it when he is with me, when they watch him as well as when my nephew is around. If my son whines (which he does CONSTANTLY) he gets it. He gets pushed a bit too much and cries they cuddle him like a baby. My son is far from fragile. He will wrestle and hit just like any other boy. When it's just him, my b/f, his son and myself at home, he doens't whimper or cry when the kids start fighting but when he's around my mom and grandmother, he goes into complete sissy mode. They give into him all of the time. This is putting a serious damper on the relationship I have with my sister because she sees it as well, too much. When I punish my son in front of them, I am told I am being mean. I have talked with them, yelled and even kept them from my son. What else can I do? They refuse to see my point. Help!

I've always known that I don't want to have kids. The idea of spending years driving to soccer practice and doing extra cooking and cleaning doesn't appeal, never mind the hideous business that is pregnancy and childbirth, but I hear loads of women 'change their mind' when they get to my age. What makes them change their minds? At what point do you say 'I've got too much money and spare time, and I've acheived everything I want to acheive in life; I think I'll have a kid.'?

I just can't imagine changing my mind, but everybody assures me, in highly patronising tones, that I will. What would make me change my mind, give up who I am and turn into a mother?
