My kids are 9, 5 and almost 4. I feel terrible I ever played into this. I would really like to tell them something like "the spirit of Christmas is in all of us and we are like St Nicholas in some way". I just don't think there is an easy way out.

Its a lie, pure and simple. I don't think emphasising on the true meaning of Christmas is wrong. Why even start it? Christmas is magical and giving is precious. And surprises from parents are great. I wasn't asking if I should tell I said How do I tell. I would like advise on how to do it.

You're going to tell your 3 small children there is no Santa 6 days before Christmas? Guess what: You're going to ruin their Christmas if you tell them now.

Let them have one more Christmas of believing in Santa and then tell them. Personally, I don't think you should tell them at all.

I think it's a child's God-given right to find out on their own but if that's what you want to do then I guess nobody can stop you. Merry Christmas.

You don't need to tell them. The 9 year old knows already. The 4 & 5 year olds have a couple more years. They figure it out and it's still excited to see what Santa brought. Don't feel terrible!

You can say, "If you believe in Santa, then Santa believes in you". You can also do something with your kids like having them pick out a toy to donate to teach them the spirit of giving.

Read them the true Christmas story from the Bible and tell them the truth. Christmas is about Jesus and Santa is just one way that we've commercialized it. My parents did this and then still had a present under the tree from "Santa" just for fun.

The 4 and 5 year old are to young to know. But take your 9 year old on the side and tell him or her straight. But tell her or him to keep it quiet !Dont feel bad when I told my older daughter when she got older she called me a lier because I told her that there was a santa in the first place. Now till this day she said I lied to her all these years. And I have never lied to my kids. Good luck !

I don't think you should tell them if they already believe in Santa. Let them figure it out. Its up to you as the parent to teach them about Christmas and what it means to you. You can accomplish this even with them believing in Santa. Kids have an imagination and now-a-days they aren't allowed to use it like they should be able to. Let them be kids, it won't hurt them to believe in Santa. It will hurt more for you to tell them about it and crush their beliefs. You are only young once.

The same as what we was told by our parents, Santa died and there will never be another Santa. But if there should be one it is only people imitating the real Santa..

Santa does exist. Hes around 8 feet tall very white old but hes inmortal has a long puffy beard like two feet long he has rosy cheeks and green eyes and he speaks some dialict of icelandic. Hes not exactly frm the north pole, but somewhere around there. he had to move cause of paparazzis. I forgot to mention that he speaks most languages. I know this because when i was a little kid i saw him and starting to talk to him.

They don't need to be told they can figure it out on there own,

and You can teach them the spirit of Christmas by bringing them with you to do kind things for Neighbors, Caroling, Volunteer work, Making gift Baskets for people in need, And Church Projects,

Its something you instill into them,

Please don't ruin their innocence , is it reall such a big deal to pretend when you are little, and you nine year old already knows,
trust me my 10 year old does and I never told him,
