I had a very difficult childhood, and had many mental health problems. My mother didn't abuse me but I do not feel I was loved...
I was always the person in the family who was in the wrong.
She would often tell me she loved the dog more me, and she wished I wasn't born.
She would not talk to me for up to a week if I was 'naughty' and every birthday she would deduct money from my birthday present for any misbehaving I had done in the previous year.
I had bulima through my teenage years, but my mother still would often say how fat I was.
I was bullied at school..but felt I recievd no support at home..when I wanted to tell my mother...she would ignore me..and not talk to me because I had upset her in the house. The only thing she ever said was deal with it yourself....

We are friends with a couple who have a daughter who is 7. We have known them since she was 3. She is an only child & will remain that way. Whenever they come over they have no control of the child. They do not know the meaning of consistancy or discipline. The child will run shrieking throughout our house if she doesn't get her way. Then the mom usually gives in. Or she will send the child on a time out for 30 seconds & then apologize to the child after doing it. The father has tried disciplining the child but mom overrides him at every turn. I have told the mom she needs to be consistant with the discipline. If she tells the child there will be consequences for her behavior, then she needs to deliver those consequences, not ignore the child, etc. We have two teen children and have dealt with this age before. Any suggestions as to what to say? WE have given this child timeouts, stating our house, our rules, & we don't allow shrieking, screaming and running through our house.

My husband woke my 11yr old son up spanking him because he went to bed with his TV on! It PISSED me off and I told him about it! He replied "if I didn't like the way he was doing things around the house I could pack my SH--! It is really bothered me for him to do that! We have a daughter 7 that is biologically his and he would never do her like that! She always leaves her TV on! I guess she was lucky not to forget! But would he have done that if they both left them on! I just couldn't sleep; so I got in the bed with my daughter, and cried myself to sleep! I went in the room with my son and told him that should not have happened to him and I was so sorry and I love him! I have been crying all morning at work because I just can't get myself together! I have turned my kids TV's off hundreds of times. But you would have to be a MONSTER to wake someone up like that! He was incoherent and didn't know what was going on! I FELT SO SORRY FOR HIM! Can't stop crying!

I am sick of being stuffed around with maintenance. I have 4 kids and their father just stopped paying since he got married recently. My kids find it hard to deal with at times as he is supporting 2 kids that are not his. Does anyone else have this trouble.

My husband wants to take me, his brother, his parents and our two month old to a baseball game? I've never been to a baseball game so I don't know if it is ok to bring her or not. Has anyone ever seen a baby at a baseball game?

Zenobia is my youngest baby (19months). She's fiesty and full of attitude. Sensitive may I add. When I come home from work, I spread my arms for her to come give me a hug, and she looks away and says "No!". So I go up to her, gently grab her arm and she tries to run from me and ends up falling and b/c of that, she cries, as if I did it. Ha!
All throughout the day, she's very whiny if she falls, doesn't get her toy right away, etc. I think it also stems from her oldest sister who takes things from her constantly, then my youngest just sits and watches her sister play with it.
My thing is, why is she so upset at mommy? I know, you guys think she isn't but she really IS. Bedtime she won't let me cuddle her and comfort her. She does the same to others too.
Can anyone help my Z and me?
e-mails are welcome!

I'm with my kids everyday, besides working 9-5. I do not have a babysitter due to financial difficulties. I'm with them everyday. Thing is, my oldest is autistic (PDD) and my youngest is very demanding. Cleaning the house, cooking, buying groceries, is all something I take care of daily. I try my best and spend time with them but it's very hard when I only have 3 hours before bedtime to do all this. I sometimes feel like I want to shut myself off from everything. It's been almost 4 years since I've had a mini vacation without any worry about who's caring for my children. At this point, I feel it's affecting my health. Is this how normal family life is?
My mom is unable to wtach them. She works 6 days a week and they disrespect my rules about what my chidlren should eat due to my oldest daughter's condition.
Yesterday, I felt like I was going to bust if I didn't get a day to myself.
??

I have a niece that decided about 2 years ago that she is lesbian (and I have nothing against this) but she has a lover that is in the Army and now she is going to give up her parental rights to her 11 year old son so that her lover can get the military benefits of having a kid. To top this all off, his grandparents raised him for the majority of his life and now she will no longer even let them see or talk to him. I personally think that if she is willing to give up her rights, the grandparents should be the ones that file for the adoption but they are afraid that it will hurt their grandson. Would you push the grandparents into fighting for custody knowing that if anything ever happened in the relationship between my niece and her lover that their grandson could be permenantly removed from the family? My sister is the grandparent and they were informed by lawyer yesterday that there really isn't any grandparents rights and the they would have an excellent chance for custody.

I realized today that I am very interactive with my 8 month old, but when the tv is on i tune in to the show and stop playing with my son, if only for a few minutes-but it still creates of feeling a guilt...I also wonder.....does this happen to other parents- even more often to parents who arent wanting to limit tv time with their children?? Has this actually affected whole generations of children in our society (possibly the baby boomers and the "X" genners). How negatively has couch potato parenting affected children's upbringing???

My 28 year old has 2 beautiful children but seems to have this problem picking a mans love over the love of her children. She admits she sucks as a mother but doesnt seem to change her ways. She feels she has to have a man in her life wether he accepts the children or not. What can i do to help her realize that this affects the children?
