Forgive my ignorance. My mother didn't say a word about deoderant and would always ignore my questions about shaving. I had to figure it out myself - WAY TOO LATE! And then I had to pay for the stuff myself. In my opinion, that is why my mom didn't talk about it. Then she didn't have to fork over the $$.

I don't want my daughter to be confused and/or ridiculed. She also just asked me about it and I really wasn't sure what to say. She is only 7 1/2 but is quite active and is a very healthy weight.

Thanks for the help!!

If so, would you:
1. Keep their first name the same.
2. Change their first name to one from your country.
3. Give them a new first name and keep their current name as the middle name.

I am sick of being told I'm stupid or nuts because I buy my sons clothes and toys new, or I'm nuts for buying a large home or new car...its my life and I never say I think it's dumb to wear something from like a decade ago!
How do I tell them to shut up, nicely?

As a mother of a 6 month old and a 4 year old, I have lived to see many mistakes other parents have made with their children. I see my own parents and I worry. What are some things that I can do to be sure I do the very raising my children? The least thing I want is for my children to become criminals, or hate me for not understanding them, which a lot of children feel nowadays. Every response will be truly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I have had my kid longer than a pal of mine, she just had her baby and she already acts like super mom. If I give her advice she already knows better advice, if I buy my kid new clothes she tells me she would never buy new clothes and thinks its stupid, I just cant win.

Im going through a custody battle with my ex. My youngest son had to a different counler due to insuance problems. Anyway, he went in for an assesment and he says he has a small problem that i have a couple of drinks when hes with me. He said thar his father hits him and say mean things to him. My son never had a problem that I had a few drinks before his last visit with Dad. His Dad only has that one tiny issue to put aganst me and he has been able to sway my son into thinking that drinking is a big problem for me ( it isnt). My oldest son thinks Im fine he has told me that its becouse of thier Dad that Justin has a problem. Also in this assesment the councler thinks that this custody battle will do more damage than good. His last councler said just the opposite. I'm torn as to what to do. I want what is best for my kids, I will from now on quit drinking in front of my son, thats no problem. How do I figure out whats best for the kids?

I recently heard that they do not arrest fathers for non-payment of child support any more. I live in PA, I am not sure if it was for this state only or everywhere. Serious responses only please, this is a serious matter, children are suffering.

So how can she come back and say that to my friend? Why is she doing this to my friend? My friend was adopted when she was 9 years old. That is her family to her. Why after all these years did she come back? How can I help my friend?

I've seen alot of questions pertaining to out of control children today. Why are people letting their kids run their lives today? Why do they let them act horrid and get away with murder? We are put here on earth to guide them, they are not born knowing right from wrong and are selfish from birth. Children thirst for boundaries....and honestly it sickens me when I'm out in public and I see a child slapping his parent but what irritates me even more is when they stand there and let them behave this way. My child would be put under my arm and taken to the nearest restroom for an attitude adjustment! I have never seen so many people catering to their little brats (not the kids fault btw) then I see today. I have three children and they are not perfect, but I love them and discipline them and others actually enjoy being around them. So what gives today??

I'm having problems posting; so excuse me if this is a repeat.

My son's father is no longer spending time with our child...he was there for the first 10 months; but has decided that he no longer wants to be involved.

He never revealed our son to his family. I was trying to get him to do it, but he didn't. Now that he is choosing to not be involved, I want to contact his family (I don't have a relationship with them either) to let them know that their family tree has grown. I would like to invite them to his 1st birthday party or at least a brunch the day after. How do I approach this? I am not doing this out of spite, in fact I have no desire to discuss his fathers and my relationship. I just believe in family and I want my son to have access to his family.
