I would look in a totally different direction - and look at the cause.
There is a one-time treatment Atlasprofilax that usually makes the migraine disappear - of course there is no guarantee.
I have experienced the amazing effects myself... :-)
Now, the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. And it's worth to travel a far way to make the experience!

My mother had chronic migranes her whole life, and from the time I was about 6, it wasn't uncommon for me to be running the house for a week while she recovered (they were unusually bad). Unfortunatly, we didn't live near family at the time, so going to grandmas wasn't an option. But given her temper at the time (kids make noise and messes- not an appealing combination when your in pain), I really wish it would have been! Do your kids and yourself a favor and don't go it alone.

As long as it's not everyday but once or twice a week is fine. If you are having migraines more than a couple times a month you should see a doctor.

It's ok to let the kids spend time with their grandma any time. If the grandma doesnt mind then why not help your migraine by letting the screaming kids visit grandma.

I agree with Chrissy. As long as you don't take advantage of her kindness and free time (grannies have lives too), it's perfectly fine to pack 'em up, ship 'em off and get some rest! Hell, I'd drop off my kid (if my mom were still alive, and if I had a kid) just to have some "me time". But since you're sick, it's a ok to get a sitter, and even better that it's a loving grandma.

Sure, as long and Grandma is OK with it. If you aren't feeling well you certainly aren't going to be able to do much for the kid. A trip to Grandma's will give you a chance to get feeling better.

Your first concern should be the children. How well can you parent them with a disabling headache? I say, absolutely, send them to ANY responsible adult until you can properly care for them. Don't feel guilty, you didn't chose this. When you need help, the responsible thing to do is ask for it. Good luck!
