Hi I set up a 24 gallon aquapod marine tank. It has 10.5 lbs of LR and 20 lbs of LS in it. It has been set up since last sunday. I got a product called phos-x from a LFS that was closing. It says it removes nitrates, nitrites, and phospahtes. After my cycle, would it be advantagous to add this to the water? It is a little packet.

Thanks....

BTW, there are no fish in the water, just a few snails and hermits I got for free to aid the cycle.

My threadfin butterfly has white spots at the very tip of his tail, and top of his fin only. He is eating normally, and is not exhibiting an unusual behavior. I started running a UV sterilizer last night. I can't decide if I should setup a hospital tank (I have inverts, so can't treat for ich in the main tank). Is this ich, or possibly something else? How long can I 'wait and see'?

Okay, well I breed mollies, and I just have a few problems.

First of all, I got 3 male mollies by accident, and no females.
Second of all, my tank is only a 20 gallon, so I don't want to get like 6-8 females for my males.
PLUS I also breed guppies, so I ALREADY have 6 adult guppies, along with my mollies.

So my question is, WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!!!?????

I'm not willing to get a tank ANY bigger.

AND- how do I solve this problem!? Because I REALLY want to breed mollies!!!!

Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

And I will choose best answer at the end!!!!!

P.S. Can a molly survive a 5-10 minute bike ride home?

Thanks!!!!!

Well, so I siphoned the tank. I have found two baby malaysian trumpets that must be the babies of my adults. How many more am I supposed to expect? Do they have more than two babies each time?

I've been reading a bit about guppy diseases. Could it be that my guppy is having constipation? This morning when i was feeding it, i noticed a little lump on the swollen stomache. The tank is a 10 gallon tank with 3 females and 4 males (including the one that is swollen). Should i isolate him from the other fish?

hi, i took a betta from my two roomies who put 2 bettas in one tank. I took the less dominant fish who had been getting constantly pecked. I believe its a she, she has been very very happy and spunky in her new bowl, except her gills seem red, especially on one side. I dunno if its because of the pecking or really a disease, I've been reading about Betas online. Also, I heard that Betas go crazy in round bowls, is that true? Mine is in a round glass bowl.

The goldfish are too big (10 plus inches) and smelly to keep in my basement like I did last winter. I have about 10 large and 30 (3-5inch) fish. I live in a climate where the winter can be as cold as -40 degrees. I have a stock tank heater and aerator, and could possibly put in a fountain type pump for circulation. Will this keep the fish alive over the winter? Or am I doomed to kill all these gorgeous fish if I do this? The garage isn't heated and has little insulation. Do I need to cover the trough? Do they need light over the winter? Any help would be great! Thank you!

I just bought 3 true perculas. They are all pure yellow with not fully developed stripes and the black lining has barely came in. Theyre pretty young maybe a couple of months. Will the color get better? Will the black get more rich and how long would it take? One of them is really stressed what should i do?

I have a tank with three female bettas. I've had this set-up for about three weeks now; they get along well; no stress stripes, minimal flaring... Everything seems great.

However, two of them suddenly stopped acting like themselves two days ago. They stopped eating, and while they are normally very active fish (swimming around all the time), now I usually find them resting together on the bottom of the tank. Today, both bettas started developing stress stripes.

I can't figure out what the problem could be. There have been no recent changes in the tank; no new fish, etc. The last partial water change was last Friday, and they were acting fine for a few days after that, so I don't think that is it. I changed the filter cartridge yesterday, but they stopped eating the day before this.

To be continued.

Ok this is more of a fun question first to get it will get the 10pts, best answer, and a big pat on the back from "the craig"! here it goes.
If the prefix cyan/o means dark blue, and erythr/o means red. Cyanobacteria in marine tanks is commonly called red slime algae than why is it not called erythrobacteria?
