Yes. They will breed like rats and eat any live plants you have. Because of their ability to breed like no other, they (as a group) produce more waste than they can eat (they eat algae and leftover food which translates to more snail poop).

EDIT: Taking pond snails and putting them in lakes is 100% ILLEGAL! They already have huge problems with Pond Snails in Florida and many other temperate states, don't contribute to the growth of invasive species with Pond Snails.

Pond snails are bad to a point if you control them (Which i doubt you will be able to) Snails produce alot of waste. With 30-40 pond snails in a 10 gallon tank, VERY over populated. If you want a snail, i reccommend an Ramshorn Snail. Does not eat plants and eats spoiled, moldy food.

Man when you ask a question you wont quit until you get the answer you want.... Just Kidding! Like I told you before pond snails bread like crazy...and the eggs you see are snail eggs. As everyone else has said they will multiply like crazy...but you can scoop up some of them and take them to the closet lake you can find. They really do an excellent job cleaning your tank! By the way how are your guppies doing???

Well, i know you have asked me this but in a sense yes, they are bad and good. They are good because they help clean your tank with algae (i think) and they are bad because they would over populate the tank.
