Fish - September 2007

I won 2 goldfish at a carnival. And they gave us one of those lil tanks that are like 2 gallons. I asked my mom to buy me this tank at wal-mart it was $20. She said no. It was like 8 gallons had a pump and a light. But i am afraid my fish will die. I take a straw about every half hour and blow into the tank for about like 2 minutes trying to get them oxygen. I dont have a job cuz im like 14. What should I do. I only have 4 dollars left. Any home remidies?

I have a betta that was normally dark blue. He is kept in large glass with distilled water at room temp. Recently his body changed to gray. He wouldn't eat and just sat there all day. I warmed up the water with some sun and changed the food. I changed his water and he's been sick for 4 days so far. No gasping or anything. I thought maybe it's gyrodactylus but no idea. Does anyone know of any pictures of it? Any ideas?

Like I asked earlier, would it be ok to put 2 angelfish in a 2.5 gallon tank? What i did not include was that they would be in the tank temporarily. Just until they begin to grow.

A guy in one of my classes brought his pet goldfish to schoool one day...(highschool) I was on the internet, and i wasnt paying much attention to it or where it was in....then i turned around and i'm like OMG ISNT YOUR FISH GONNA DROWN?? They all looked at me like they didnt know wat i was talking about...and i repeated it...they all started laughing then i realized what i said....but can you understand why i would sday that...he had it in a jar with like no holes...he was gonna run out of oxygen..so my reaction was fish+water=drown...no? I still hear people talk about it...

ive got 3ft aquarium which now has 2 angels,1 plec,9 tiger barbs,1 silver shark, and couple of pearl danios in. got my temp at 26c now. im stryggling with the ph it was 5. i went to buy my fav fish the pictus catfish when the man informed me that it and the rest of my fish will die very soon as my ph is 5 and that my filter has stoped working to. he told me to add 1 teaspoon of bi carbonate of soda for every 1 gallon and recheck. it states 5.5-6now. what do i do add it again till it reaches 7 or what? please help as i really want to go back and get the pictus it was sooooo nice!!

I would like to buy a co2 machine for my planted aquarium, I found one

The problem it is up to only 20 gallon and mine is a 30 gallon aquarium. Does it matter? If it does, do you know also a co2 machine that works for 30 gallon and the price is about the same. Thanks!

the first time i got my aquarium (by the way: it has a filter and everything) i got 4 fish and after a while they all died.. after that i got 2 fish and they too died and then i got another one and it died.. why is that happening??!! i stopped trying to get fish cause im freakin tired of the fish always dying..
could it be because of the water? should i get bottled water or something?
and i notice that every fish that died curls.. why is that? is that even normal?
and sometimes there are green stuff on the aquarium from the inside?
and by the way i do wash my aquarium every month or so..

I am going to get a betta fish soon, like tomorow... I am going to keep it in a Plastic Animal crackers jar... its like 3 gallons and it looks like a normal fish tank with marbles and plants on the bottom , I used to have a betta fish and i kept it with little Feeder Guppies and it got along fine but I know that all fish are driffrent , but theres a lot of room and hiding places i just dont want the new future fish to become lonely .the tank does not have a lid, and my question is i dont have a water conditoner and i need to know if the feeder guppies will die without a oygen tanke my other one did not because the bowl had a MUCH , MUCH surface area the pet store owner is just telling me it doesnt matter the feeder fish are supposed to die anyway and GOOGLE has no answers about feeder guppies and another question...what do ou think is the best kind of food for it all i have is pellets (for the guppies i meab)

I want to use a water conditioner, so i bought aqua safe water conditioner. I know how much to use, can i pour the amount of drops i need while the fish or frogs are in there? or should i take them out and mix the water really good and wait for it to settle or something?

my PH is about 6.4 right now. i just set the tank up about 28 hours ago, and put my fish in just a few hours ago. is it ok for the PH to not be right at 7? and if not, is there anything that can boost it a bit? or should i let my tank take its course?

The betta is a male and I asked the worker at the pet store which fish are compatible with bettas and they said anything but another betta so I got a black moor and the betta chased him around and bit him and parts of his fins fell off, I seperated them, is there any way they can live together?

I have 4 bloodfin tetras, 4 serpae tetras, a blue gourami, a spotted cory, and an african drawf frog. The tetras aren't schooling like they did in the pet store. The frog doesn't look like it's gonna make it. The bloodfins seem to be gasping (but since I only got them today, I don't know if this is normal). And there is something clinging to the side of my tank which I think is displaced eggs, but I'm not sure. Also, though everything I can find on these species say that they are peaceful fish and would be ok mixed in this fashion, they seem to be aggressive towards each other. They aren't nipping, but they are chasing. Thank you in advance for any comments you may have. Brandi

I started my first salt water tank about a week ago and im waiting for it to finish cycling. If i put fish in it to help the cycle process with that hurt the cylce process because i read somewhere that the fish create ammoina which helps the process. The guy i bought the tank from gave me some Bio Media from his tank to help start mine. please tell me if i should take the black mollys out of my tank. o ya also in the week ive had the tank i have not seen any spike in ammonia Nitrate or Nitrene ( Not sure if thats spelled right) shouldnt i see some sort of spike by now?

I have a 36 gallon bow front with a HUGE Aptasia problem!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions how to rid my tank of this pest??? I've try Joe's Juice (which seem to work, but I work 2 jobs and don't have time to keep on it). I bought a Cooper Band (which seemed to work the whole 2 weeks that he live). II have like 4 Peppermint Shrimp (they don't seem to be doing anything!) I just saw some stuff online for "Berghia Nudibranchs". They sound good (but so did everything else)! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to rid the Aptasia or any experience with "Berghia Nudibranchs"? Thanks in advanced for the help!! Oh..and one more thing..I don't want to take out my Live Rock and place it in the sun light!! Thanks Agian

My tank was at 90 degrees so I changed the water to cool it down. Last night they were just sitting at the bottom when I went to feed them and now they are doing the same thing. Are they stressed?
