I saw my platy this morning......but this evening I couldn't find it anywhere....I checked the decor and my tank.
It did have white spot but I was treating it and the white spot was nearly gone.
Do platies characteristically hide?
Where could it be?
It wasn't small enough for another fish to eat.
What happened?

I had about 15-20 molly fry. Over the last few days, they are just dying off and I don't know why! They live in a breeders net and are about 1 week- 1.5 weeks old. I feed them 3-4 times a day. They eat crushed up tropical flake food and I break off a little piece of an algae wafer every now and then for them to nibble on. What is wrong? All the adult fish appear fine and healthy. I have only about 7 babies left.

How did they get in there? I cannot see them when I look at the gravel in the tank, but when I sphyon out water and clean the gravel I see them scooting around like their gliding. They are the same shape as isopod cirolanids but much smaller, and they have a strange browny pattern on the back, which looks like a brown black ground with a lighter brown circles on it's back. I cannot see legs, but seeing as they are so small I cannot say that they haven't.

I have followed every internet sites directions on how to clean the tank and everything but it seems that every time i clean the tank my fish die! I NEED HELP! Im going to buy more fish today and really want to do it right. Ive tried and tried but nothig is working. Basically- so far- the only thing im curious about is the hp levels and the nitrite (sp?). I dont own anything to check for that. Should i buy something for that? Could that be the problem? Also- when i add new water... should i put the conditioning drops into the new water? How doees that work? Should i fill the whole tank up and then put in enough for 10 gallons everytime? HELP! Also- How many fish should i have at the most possible for a 10 gallon? HELP

i have three balloon mollies and one just had babies. I wanted to know what type of live plants i could put in the tank that won't harm the fish and will provide great hiding places for the small fry.

Okay so I have been researching for a while and it seems most fish prefer sand over gravel. I've always used gravel but am thinking about putting sand into all my aquariums. I can't really find any sites on aqarium sand so I need answers please. How do you wash the sand before putting it in the aqarium? How much should I put? How do you keep it clean? And what are some good sands (brands, places to buy it)?

Now for the algea eater. I need to get an algea eater that will get along with corydoras and really clean the tank. I'm thinking a reguler plecostomus. Will it fit in a 15g tank with 5 corydoras and 2 australian rainbows? If not what are some common and good algea eaters besides otocinclus.

I would also say thanks again to whoever helped me on my last question , so thanks.

I have a Eclipse system 6. I know its small, but i would like to get some medium sized fish for it. I wanted cichlids, but its too small from what ive heard and researched. Are there any medium sized fish, dont necessarily have to be community, just differnt nice looking fish that would do well in such an aquarium? if there is anything besides (plaites, mollies, bettas, neon tetras, and guppies) it would be great if i could have some recomendations and suggestions. Thanks a lot,

Kyle

I would also like to say thanks to everyone that had answered my last question, it really helped getting input from different points of view, im not gonna put the betta in the 20 gallon community and im just gonna leave him where he is, in a 1.5 gal filtered tank with a light and everything, hes happy where he is. Thanks again..... on another note

I know 6 gallon is small, but its the largest tank i have space for at this time, so is there anyway i can start a cichlid tank in it? with smaller chichlids? if not.... are there any sudgestions of fish that will be ok to live in there? and anything but guppies, neon tetras, platies mollies, and swordtails. Thanks a lot,

Kyle

I've got a male betta fish, and he's not as active as when i first got him. He floats at the top in one spot, or nosedives to the bottom and just lays there. He won't eat, and his tail fins keep getting matted up. Is there something I can do? Is this a phase they go thru? Is he dying? Or does he need to mate? i don't want to loose him, and i don't kow where to go for answers. Please Help!! I keep his water clean.
