I got a mystery snail with my beta fish and i was wondering if i should dump some water out incase it doesn't want to be in the water. And does it need water to breathe?

Snails will climb up near the top (and sometimes above) the water level and extend their snorkel to get oxygen. They may even escape the aquarium completely, so it's best to keep the lid closed . I had 2 Mystery snails in a 20 gal. tank with 1 Beta. Those snails were constantly mating. At first it was amazing to watch their gracefull courtship, but I think these 2 got carried away. They produced 2 eggsacks 1 week apart.I had to partially drain the tank and add fresh water everyday, as the pump and filter were unable to keep up with those 2 amorious snails.And when they did take a break from each other, they would chase the Beta around. Sadly, they finally caught up with it. I came home from work to find ...well , I will just finish by saying those Mystery Snails certainly live up to their name.

Mystery snails must be able to get above the water line to lay their eggs, but only need to get their breathing tube out of the water to get O2.
They live in the water, but breath air from the atmosphere. I hope you have them in an aquarium with a heater and filter and not in a bowl. They both come from tropical waters and need temps in the range of 74-78 degrees.
BTW, it is spelled with 2 T's (betta) and pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah. Beta is the second letter of the Greek alphabet and is not a fish.

Snails stay in the water, no need to dump out water

Just dump out a little water they like to breath once in a while :)
