I saw my platy this morning......but this evening I couldn't find it anywhere....I checked the decor and my tank.
It did have white spot but I was treating it and the white spot was nearly gone.
Do platies characteristically hide?
Where could it be?
It wasn't small enough for another fish to eat.
What happened?

only one of two possibilities here either it jumped out of the tank or passed on and was "cleaned" up by the other fish.
You would be surprised how quickly one can be cleaned up. Particularly if you have something like ghost or cherry shrimp in the tank. It may sound nasty to you but nature has to have a way to clean up so to speak imagine if all the fish in the wild that passed were not "cleaned" up how nasty the water would be.
sorry to hear about your platy, it may not have been small enough for another fish to swallow but a can guarantee you any deceased fish will get eaten if left in the tank even with community fish

your fish have white spot (ich), will be stressed and will behave differently including hiding. The most likely situation is that the fish has died and has been eaten be the other fish - this is normal for all fish to do this.

If a fish is sick, the other fish may eat it. This is very common and Platys have a high mortality rate as is.

I realize this may sound strange, sometimes fish can get out of the tank...and you find them on the floor!!I do'nt know what kind of tank you have, but I would look there first, also sometimes they get caught in the filter.Good luck to you!

The most likely answer is for you to check the floor and under any furniture within a few feet of the tank. It's not uncommon for a fish to jump and they can end up farther from the tank than you might think.

It most likely jumped out of the tank. But wait a while to see if you can find it, maybe near the filter, or heater or something.
