Hi we have 25 Litre (5.5 gallon) tank fitted with a Fluval 2 plus (for up to 90 litre tanks as recommended by the aquatics shop) in tank pump & a bubble air disk.

We have just introduced a Black Moor to the tank today, he seems to struggling with the flow of the pump even though we have it set on the lowest setting. When we switch off the air stream & the pump he seems a little more settled.

Do these fish like still water ? or is it ok to have a pump in with him.

He seems to be frantic when the pump is on.

I have a very small cold water tank (13 litres) with two black moor fish. The tank I bought came with a filter and I have installed it so that the part which pushes out the filtered water is below the surface. Is that right or should it make bubbles?

But it seems to create a current under the water which the fish struggle to swim away from. Eventually after watching the fish swimming against the current, i saw both fish give up swimming and begin to be washed around the tank by the water flow. I have now turned off the filter.

Also, any food which has sunk to the bottom washes around the tank. Is there any need for the filter?

I have a 20 gallon tank with heater and box filter. I conditioned the water as instructed and added aquarium salt as well. I bought 4 males and 6 females about a week ago. One by one, the females have been dying. I replaced two of them, but I am down to three. I did a 25% water change about a day and a half ago, but it seems that every day at least one female is dying. The males are healthy, too!!

Help!! I`m not new to aquariums... but this one has me stumped!

Ok, I got lots of help on here re: which fish to get for my aquarium but I'm now getting conflicting advice on how long I should wait before I get any fish...
One pet shop said wait a week - a site on the net said it could take up to 7 weeks!?!
Tank is Juwel Vision 180 - been running 3 weeks with integrated filter & air bubble line.
Temperature has stayed a steady 27 degrees C.
Tank includes 2" of gravel, 6 real vallis potted plants, 2 smaller plants that don't look so good with brown spots (but had them when I planted them!), 1 big plastic plant, 1 big stone tree stump thing, one big rock with loads of hiding places & one smaller rock.
I've been adding a small amount of flake food each day & pH down as my pH has stayed at 7.8 for ages!
Pet shop checked my ammonia & nitrate & they were fine & I've acquired quite a few snails from somewhere.
My tank seems REALLY clean though & I was told it should go cloudy first.....
Do I just need to be more patient or is there anything else I can do?
