Hi we have 25 Litre (5.5 gallon) tank fitted with a Fluval 2 plus (for up to 90 litre tanks as recommended by the aquatics shop) in tank pump & a bubble air disk.

We have just introduced a Black Moor to the tank today, he seems to struggling with the flow of the pump even though we have it set on the lowest setting. When we switch off the air stream & the pump he seems a little more settled.

Do these fish like still water ? or is it ok to have a pump in with him.

He seems to be frantic when the pump is on.

The filter might be too large for the tank. Goldfish produce massive amounts of waste. (why the aquatic shop recommended the larger filter) You could try to find a smaller filter or go upgrade your tank. Goldfish grow very fast. Each goldfish should have no less than 10 gallons each. There might be a valve to slow down the output of the filter. I don't own any Fluval filters. Sorry I'm no help there.

They prefer calmer water, but also a bigger tank

The minimum is a 10 gallon for starters
read the basic caresheet on goldfish please
