I'm taking him out, and putting him in a bowl. I was just wondering if his pretty long fins will grow back?

They will grow back, but they might not be as long and pretty as they once were. If it's a veil tail (that's what most store-bought bettas are), sometimes the fins grow back looking different, like the "veins" aren't straight anymore.

Bettas shouldn't be in a tank with anything that will nip (barbs, tetras, cichlids), because they're a prime target with the long, flowy fins. Bettas can't move as fast as those, and it's hard for them to get away when they're attacked.

At the pet store, you'll find something called Betta Fix. It will help the fish's fins heal up. Make sure when you put him in a bowl that it's big enough to allow him to swim around. A regular goldfish bowl isn't going to be large enough. He needs at least a gallon, preferably more. I know the pet stores sell these tiny betta bowls, but fish who live in tiny bowls like that don't tend to do very well, and the majority of them don't live very long.

For now, put about 2-3 crystals of aquarium salt in the bowl. This will help fight off bacteria that can cause infection on his tattered fins.

i does not advise that. Betta are a extra calm fish. even nevertheless Barbs are schoolers, they are nonetheless considered extra aggressive. you does not want those captivating feathers (that's what I call them) nipped. they could even kill the Betta. what number fish do you intend to place into your 29 gal. tank? do no longer over load. this is not any longer healthful and you will in all probability see extra aggression because of the fact of over load. counting on length, one greater fish could count variety for 3 fish etc. you may evaluate yet another 29 gal. tank or shop the numbers down. besides i does not take the possibility. placed the Betta with the extra calmer fish. stable good fortune fishing ....

Yes they will, but it will take quite a while. If more than 1/2 the fin is missing it could take a few months for all of it to grow back.
