I would like to buy a co2 machine for my planted aquarium, I found one
http://www.hagen.com/usa/aquatic/product.cfm?CAT=1&SUBCAT=118&PROD_ID=01076900020101
The problem it is up to only 20 gallon and mine is a 30 gallon aquarium. Does it matter? If it does, do you know also a co2 machine that works for 30 gallon and the price is about the same. Thanks!

CO2 is necessary to keep large, healthy plants, especially in a large tank. CO2 is vital for plants to carry out photosynthesis. I would suggest that you read the attached article. For your tank, I would suggest the do-it-yourself version. It is very inexpensive, and you can easily regulate the amount of CO2 going into the tanks. I would watch out for a few things though, be sure you don't have any airstones on (they will bring oxygen into the water and release the CO2 into the air through the gas exchange), do not put the CO2 output near the filter intake (unless it is a canister as this will also lose a lot of the CO2), and do not allow the mixture in the bottle to foam into the tank (best avoided by leaving the tubing only an inch through the lid). Email me if you have any questions.

I'd be curious why you would want something like that? Unless you're having some type of PH problem, I wouldn't think it was necessary. I have also heard that if too much co2 is injected, it can kill your fish. Have you researched this at all? (i'm just wondering) I have a planted aquarium, and my plants are growing just fine, I wouldn't waste my money on something like that, unless there is a specific reason why. This is the first time i've actually used live plants in a while because my oscar just tore them up and redecorated and my goldfish did the same thing!! With my smaller fish the plants have "taken off" and I'm actually having to trim them back and i'm making new ones from them. I wish I had a concrete answer for you, but as I said, I don't know why you feel it necessary to begin with. Good luck! ;o) (PS: I would think an airstone would do just as much as a co2 machine....it obviously works for my tank, or I wouldn't have to trim everything back so often...but that's just my opinion)
