Fish can drown (but it is really suffocation). Fish can drown if: they water is too dirty, the gills are damaged, there isn't sufficient oxygen in the water, or if they are Anabatoids (fish that extract oxygen from the atmosphere with their labyrinth organ) and cannot reach the water's surface. In the case that the water the Goldfish was in ran out of oxygen, yes, the fish could drown, so, you can now go laugh at all your classmates.

sure they are able to. some fish like the difficulty-loose BETTA's and Gourami's take in air suited from the exterior of their tanks. If there is not any way for them to suck in oxygen they're going to drown. somebody has already properly pronounced approximately how severe water temperature and no water circulation could reason low oxygen. additionally a brilliant component is water floor section. those classic around goldfish bowls with in basic terms a pair of palm length beginning on the precise are very undesirable. you desire a extensive beginning so as plenty oxygen can dissolve into the water as available. The smaller the outlet the fewer oxygen gets into the water. Many a goldfish have "drowned" in those lovable little bowls~

Your fish can suffocate if there isn't enough oxygen in the water. Especially if they get there oxygen from water. Some fish can get air from the top of the water while others can only recieve it through their gills.
