Hi. At the moment I have a 28L square aqua one tank, which I was thinking about turning into a marine tank.

How much extra effort and money would that be? I'd like live coral in it.

Also, any ideal fish to put in? I want a mixture, as colourful as possible :)

I have a couple of betta fish, I am starting to breed them, and the problem is that my female betta loose interest after 30 minutes of flaring with my male betta. What could I feed her, or what could I do to stimulate her. I have become a expert with male bettas, but females are just to cocky. Thank you!

It looks like my goldfish has a swim bladder problem. It's backside is floating, having a hard time swimming, stays near the top. It's in a 10 gallon tank with two other smaller goldfishes as well. They are all about 1inch long. I've tried peas but it doesn't want to eat it and the peas sink to the bottom. I want to try fasting but not sure if I'll have to make all the other fish fast as I don't have another tank. I've replaced the water, added dechlorinater and cycle solution. I'm out of ideas. What should I do?

how many fish can fit into a 10 gallon tank

2007-09-27 15:31:45 · 10 answers · asked by Luke O 1

I have a 29 gallon tank with great filtration and is fully cycled and established. I have 2 Boesemani rainbows (max size of 3.5"), 2 trifasciata rainbows(max size about 3"), 3 black skirt tetras(max size 1.5"), 3 white skirt tetras(max size about 1.5-2"). I would also like to add 2 - 4 neon rainbows. I have more then enough oxygen output for all of the fish and the tank will have(in a few days) more places for the fish to hide, i.e. rocks and plants and other decor. Please give me input and not just a yes or no answer.

I was thinking on putting 3 Oscars, 3 Neon Tetras, and 2 Zebra Danios in a 20 Long tank.

Oscars are about 5 inches long.

Your input would be very thankful.

What are you opinions about tattoing, dying fish or painting fish with hearts on them!

My tank has been running for over 1 year now so it's not that I didn't let it cycle before putting fish in it. I check the Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and PH levels weekly, they are all fine.
Last week one of my clown loaches died. I didn't think to much of it because fish die. I checked all the levels again, did a partial water change, cleaned the tank and the rocks. Then a couple days later another clown loach died. Again I checked all the levels, partial water change, and made sure there was nothing in the tank.
Today, one of my plecos died. Now I know they are very tough fish and it's hard to kill them so now I'm really confused. I just checked all the levels again and they are fine.
they are being fed enough. I feed them dry flakes daily, with brine shrimp or 4 meat frozen cubes every few days. I put algae pellets in the tank for the 2 plecos every once in a while too to make sure they have enough to eat as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why my fish are dying?

My little buddy goes up to the top of the tank and floats there for extended periods. He isn't tilted and doesn't seem off-balance when he does this, and I can still see him breathing through his mouth. He swims normally around the tank (2.5 gal) without any problems. I know that Bettas are labyrinth fish which breathe normal air like we do, but he's staying up at the top for several minutes at a time. Is this normal? Also, he has not been eating his pellets and I really don't know when I'll get a chance to go to the pet store to get a different kind (such is life as a college freshman). I've read that bettas are very picky eaters. Will he eat if he gets too hungry, even if he doesn't like the food? I don't want my new lil friend to starve to death! :(

P.S. : Thanks very much to all the people who answered my previous question. I appreciate the help and he seems to be doing better now that I have a lamp over his tank. :)

I beleive that when your fish's scales are black and pop out like a pinecone, thats fungus. So I got some treaters and dropped them in the tank. Scales are stil repesenting a pine cone. Is it Fungus or something else?

I have a male betta fish...I've had it for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. It lives in a bowl and I feed it 1-2 times a day about 4-5 pieces of food. It just sits at the bottom of the bowl or on the fake plant, and seems to struggle to move to the surface to eat, then sinks back down again. He used to move a lot. Is he just old or is there something wrong with him???

Ok, I have an approximate 44 gal. tank with 3 mollys, 5 platys, 2 oto catfish, 2 fiddler crabs and a snail. My water readings are fine, nitrates a little elevated but still in safe zone (still haven't figured out why they are raised, overfeeding I think). My question is this: When I come in in the morning, I turn my light on across the room to let the poor fishes eyes adjust prior to my turning the tank light on. When I go to turn the tank light on, they seem to be "laying" (or floating, whichever), near the bottom and they stay there for a few minutes before they move up to eat. No visible signs of illness, eating fine, acting fine. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Are they just resting do you think? I can't figure it out. I should add that it is a planted tank, and at night I turn my airstone up to increase the oxygen level in the tank. During the day, I turn it down. Any ideas or suggestions would help. Thanks
