You could put Glad Press'n Seal over the tank openings. It makes a pretty strong seal. Or you could move the tanks to another area like parents or friends house.

House Fish Tanks

I'd have to agree with rfranchek on this - even though you seal the tank, you'd have to turn off every filter or air pump which could potentially introduce air (along with the pesticide chemicals) into your tank water. And just because you seal the tank in plastic doesn't mean the plastic may not be permeable to some of the chemicals from the bug bomb. It would be better if you could relocate the tanks (temporarily) to another location or find an alternative to the bug bombs.

You can't bug bomb with fish tanks. You will have to get the fish and tanks out of the house just like any other children or pets or you will have dead fish. Try an exterminator, they can put the chemicals down out of harms way of your fish. Even then turning off the air and filter will help keep fumes from getting into the water.

NOT A GOOD IDEA !!! We did the same thing, We tried to seal the tank with plastic, duct tape and even blankets on top of that

Every fish died

But if you have to do it and can't move the tanks then the press and seal might be a good idea

but make sure you turn off any filters or bubblers
and cover the whole thing on top of that

You'll have to seal it off by attaching plastic to the area to cover it up, but that still might not work. I don't like bug bombs- I prefer getting a pesticide company to come spray (I use COOKS pest control) because it gets rid of all of the bugs and you can stay in your area and not worry about it hurting any of your animals or yourself.

PLASTIC AND TAPE. SEAL IT
COVER WITH TRASH BAG AND TAPE AS CLOSE TO BOTTOM AS POSSIBLE. DONT WORRY IF IT'S NOT COMPLETELY SE ALED. Dont worry if its not completely sealed. The chemicals in a bomb settle so just make sure the bag is pulled as over down the stand and tape.

Chemicals can be absorbed throught the glass, believe it or not, that's why you should never use cleaners or soap for the glass, just water and paper towels, though, for sealing it up, I'd reccomend covering it with a heavy duty black garbage bag, if it's on a stand make sure the bag reaches the floor, tape it around at the base this should do th trick, just make sure that the cords aren't lifting the bag. good luck!
