The lion-fish belongs to the Scorpion fish family.
This brightly colored fish is usually found in coral reefs, especially in shallow waters hovering in caves or near crevices. Lion-fish have venomous fin spines that can produce painful puncture wounds.
Fatalities, however, are rare.
The fish have elongated dorsal fin spines and enlarged pectoral fins, and each species has a particular pattern of zebra like stripes.
A person punctured by one of the sharp spines will immediately feel strong pain. Rapid swelling of the affected body area develops along with the possibility of making movement of limbs very difficult. Lion-fish stings can cause nausea, breathing difficulties, paralysis, convulsions and collapse. Even death may occur in exceptional circumstances. Most people survive in spite of the great pain. The venom in the spines remains active for days, so even discarded spines should be treated with caution. It may take several months for a full recovery and if the sting is left untreated, gangrene may develop.
So basically there aren't many reports of deaths related to lion fish attacks, but you can die if you do come in contact with one!:)

Lion fish have spines on its top fin which they use as protection against their surrounding predators and can eject poison which cause severe pain which can kill the other fish and can make a human very very ill. The chances of a person dying from it is slim but true. If a person gets poked by a Lion fish and do not get the toxins removed by a doctor and get an antibiotic then YES they can die.

The spines on the fins are poisonous, and if you are stung, the reaction will be similar to a bee sting only a little stronger.
If you are alergic to bees, They can kill you.
If you are alergic to the venom from a lion fish, It can kill you.
YES it could possably kill some people.

Indirectly...
It can knock some people out with the unexpected pain it can produce if you grab one in a tank by accident. They can fall & hit their head when getting knocked out like this and die.
Anaphalaxicvally....
Deathly allergic to bee stings or turtles? Same difference here.

I don't know that I've ever known anyone killed by them, but it's an experience you won't soon forget. The spines contain a venom, but it's more like a strong wasp sting. If you happened to be allergic to the venom, it's possible you could die from a reaction to the chemicals.

Being finned by a Lionfish might not be fatal,(unless you were allergic to the venom). But it would probably hurt like hell. It is after all, called venom.
