these can be early signs of an illness or signs of depression. of course depression can lead to sickness.

it's nearly impossible to tell what's wrong with only the information you provided, that's like calling the doctor and telling them your stomach hurts and expecting them to know what's wrong. so please provide us with a little more information.
what is it in? (bowl, tank)lling pe
how big?
filter?
heater?
water temp?
does he have any other symptoms like white spots or shrinking fins?

fin rot.
this is caused by dirty water. do a full water change and add a fungus treatment, most like jungle fungus eliminator. I suggest more frequent water changes in the future, preferably a tank with a filter and heater though.

people, PLEASE do your research first! ich is a parasite that is easily diagnosed by salt like spots all over the fish. this is obviously not ich then. treating it for ich will doing nothing o help and will more likely weaken the fish making him less likely to be strong enough to fight what is actually wrong with him.

what you are saying compatible to telling someone with a sore throat to go to chemotherapy and expecting it to make it better. just because it's a fish doesn't mean it can't get different disease, sicknesses, and parasites that all need different treatments.

Go to an Aquarium supply shop and ask for a medicine specifically for Bettas. I'm sorry I can't recall the name of it, but it will definitely liven your poor fish up in a hurry without stressing it...since it's designed just for Bettas.

HURRY!!!! I lost a Betta once because I was out of that medicine and it was late, the store was closed so I couldn't get any until the next day.

Debbie V might be right. Your Betta might be constipated. You have time to save it, but nothing you want to stress about. Make sure to feed your betta 1 boiled, cooked, defrosted, whatever pea a week. Cook it, shell it, and get a "Betta serving" of it.

Take two canned peas, smush them up, pull any solid pieces out and put the smush in his water. Also just a pinch of salt.

My beta died of ich but he didn't have any spots and he was all droopy too. Most pet stores have medicine for it, so try that.

if hes sitting next to a lamp, move him they hate changes in light
only feed them once a day giving them these healthy worm type meals or pellets (one or three)
you might want to try playing with the beta by putting your finger in front of him then move your finger, sometimes they chase it and sometimes they get scared
but at least they have something to do
ive also noticed betas live MANY years if you keep them in huge glass bowls in an office
