I know someone who has 2 fish tanks that are extremely filthy & have never been cleaned & I feel sorry for the fish. One small to medium fish tank & one medium to large fish tank. How many algae eaters would they need in the medium sized one & how many in the larger sized tank? Would the tank become & remain cleaner if a person added more to a tank than the average amount?

Okay, so I have a male betta named Norbert (crowntailed betta) and I just bought a new 10 gallons aquarium (we've moved past the bowl stage). Anyways, the brand is Tetra and it came with the tank, filter, hood and light along with some sample things. Anyways, whenever my fish swims away from behind his colliseum (toy), it looks almost as if the current from the filter is pulling him away a little bit and like he has to work a little bit harder to keep up. Is the filter too strong or is this normal? It doesn't seem like he can just rest with only minor moving of his fins.

I'm heading off to college, and was wondering if anybody attempted to move a 2.5 gal tank? Mine is heavily planted with substrate and everything. I was told to empty as much water as I can, but I'm afraid that the tall plants will dry out when exposed to air? The move is about an hour, going uphill and downhill. Any suggestions? Can I just bring the whole tank without doing anything, since it's so small?

I am going to buy a larger aquarium soon and U am still debating size. What is the largest aquarium I could manage for saltwater? I was thinking 75 gallons or larger max being 180 gallons? About how much am I looking at for a 75 gallon aquarium with stand (have you ever seen a black acrylic stand it really shiny does any one no where to get it? here is a link to a pic of one: http://www.aquarium-design.com/tank/gmiller.html)? Also do clown trigger fish really need 125 gallons to live happily? Thank you any questions just send me an e-mail!

How can I make my own fish food cakes that are slow-release so if I go on a trip my parents don't have to worry about feeding my fish? I want to make some that are healthy for a full 20 gallon tank and a full 10 gallon tank for 2-3 days, and some for up to 14 days. Can I do such a thing? I don't want to buy the 2 week version and end up using it for 2 days and wasting my money. Is there any way to preserve them once you are back for later use?

I want to get a Newt or Salamander for my son's aquarium. It needs to be fully aquatic because we have other fish in there so I can't provide it with any dry land.

How much do they cost at most pet stores?

Do they have any special needs that we should be aware of?

We have a ten gallon aquarium with a cover. We have about 4 neon tetras and four zebra danios in it. We also have one of those large algae eaters that looks kind of like a catfish. I have a real bamboo plant and a few decorations.

Ok, I have just found a deal on a 30 gallon tank to set up. I currently have a 10 gallon with a 6 inch common pleco in it. I know what you intelligent people are thinking, that idiot! Yes, I know a pleco needs atleast 50 gallons and my type of pleco gets to 12 inches. My pleco is about 10 years old, and has definetely been stunted for a few years. I got him when I just started in the hobby and was an idiot, and buyed on impulse. Ok, so I have set up the 30 gallon tank and it is cycled. I would like to move my pleco into this tank, to live the rest of his life in a larger tank. So, my pleco will stay at 6 inches. What could I put with him. I was thinking 1 angel and a few mollies. I know angels are schooling fish, but I can not accomidate a school in this small of a tank. I know my angel fish will take care of all the molly frys, and the ones the angel doesn't eat, the mollies will. I am prepared for 1 to occasionally survive. How does this set up sound. How many mollies would you get?

I want to put actual rocks in the bottom of my 30 gal freshwater tank. It has colored gravel now. The tank is fairly new and the nitrite and ammonia levels just got to where they need to be. I do not want to mess up the levels again. What is the best way to change this out without loosing all the bacteria that is now built up in the tank.
I do not want to mess up the balance that I now have. so any help would be appreciated.
