For the last 2 weeks i had noticed a gravid spot on my female guppy. But like i have seen on pictures and such of pregnant guppys it wasent one big spot. She has 2 small spots and a really small 3rd one. I kept watching her and i didnt see any growth. But i came home yesterday and sure enough the spots were gone and i found 2 babie fish behind a sea shell in the fish tank. I never saw more then 2 babies... dont guppys usually have like 30 at a time!? Did my guppy eat her babies tht fast!? also does anyone have any good websights i can look at to take care of the remaining 2?

It's is absolutely possible that she had only 2 babies, especially if she was a first timer

What also might have happened, is that only these to where developed enough to survive, whereas others didn't and she released only unfertalized eggs

Hope that helps
Good luck

Well, yes the mom ate the babies. If she is the only one in the tank with them then she did it alone. And yes she can eat them that fast. They begin eating them as soon as they are born. If you still have the 2 fry, remove them from the tank. They will do ok until you can get them into a different tank or bowl. A large fish bowl with an air stone will do fine for them until they are bigger than the adults mouth. Just feed them fish food but crush it with your fingers as you put it in the bowl. This will make is small enough for them. Look around the tank tho, there may be a few more hiding in the gravel or under things in the tank. Good luck. Next time you may want to get a breeder box for the mom before she drops her babies.

Some may have perished but only having a couple is normal too. Go to the pet store and get some frozen Daphnia.
Daphnia is water fleas that are small enough for the fry to eat and the other fish can eat as well. You will find that if you feed your fish frozen food, they will be much healthier and grow a LOT faster. Ordinary fish flakes are made of dried fish which when you think of it, isn't what they would normally eat in the wild. Good Luck!
