I have a fish tank with aboue 20 or do guppy fry in a breeding chamber located inside the tank. In the large part of the tank theres two female guppies and an unknown gender neon.

I noticed inside the baby guppy breeding chamber, theres like a clear gell-like bubble shape, three of them on the botem of the chamber. Inside the gell stuff theres like little white dots everywhere. Like maybe 20-30 in each little section.

mind these gel pocket things are smaller than the circumference of an eraser.

What could this be? None of the other fish but the guppies have been there

Currently I have two false percula fish, one Flame Angel, small starfish (not sure in species), 5 hermit crabs. I was told I may be able to fit 1 one more or two small fish, I was thinking a clown goby (yellow), or a Cardinal (orange striped or silver and black), but if there is something else uyou think that would be a better addition?? Thanks!!

Hi, I have 2 mollies currently in a 10g tank (one male, one female.) They both can grow a max. of 2.5 in. So I have 5 inches of stocking space left in my tank. What fish can I add? I was thinking neon tetras, maybe a group of 4? Also maybe 3-5 ghost shrimp? Do these fish require the 1 inch per gallon rule also? I don't think they do.

If neon tetras don't work, then can you give me some advice about other small fish I could get? I thought about guppies but again I wasen't sure. Thank you!

PS: My tank has salt is kept between 78-82 degrees, and I have a filter, heater, 3 fake plants, 1 hiding tube-like cave, an air pump and large air stone, and a hood w/lights.

PPS: For all of you going to say "You should keep 2-3 female mollies per male" I just want to say my male molly is not a breeding machine. He is calm and doesn't bother the female alot. Actually, the female seems more aggresive than the male!

I saw my fish this morning and I thought he was dead. When I got closer I could see that he was still breathing and moving, he's swimming with his head down and his body is sort of bent in half. I think he may have swallowed a small rock and got it lodged or something. Anyway, hey can sort of swim but he struggles and kind of just lets his head float around 'til it finally sinks. What's up? What should I do?

I have some gravel in a cycled tank, but I want to replace it with a different colored gravel for a more "natural" look. How can I go about switching out the gravel without losing any beneficial bacteria or harming the tank/fish?

I know that they are egg laying fish, and so do not actually get pregnant, but mine has a very swollen belly. I am not feeding them any more than usual, and that is the only fish in the tank that looks fat. So what's going on? I had thought it was a male before this happened because sometimes it's black stripes have a metallic green color to them. That only happens in males, right? I am a first time fish owner so I really don't know much about them. Please help!

Eeeeek dropped a clanger, dd wanted a fish tank so I let her buy what she could afford, without really looking into it.

My Dad has two big aquariums and never seemed to have to do much with them and they all survived.

So I thought it would be easy, I brought tank followed instructions, put in water conditioner, added some sort of bacteria for two weeks and a couple of live plants, and today when to fish shop and ask what else i needed, she said nothing and sold me 4 small orange, apparantly easy to look after fish.

She didn't mention testing the water, so I'm now worried that they will all croak overnight, as it appears I would have been better off with two! I'm off to test the water in the morning so is there anything i need to look out for.

And if all goes well how many fish can I put in the tank in total?

Just got myself a 10 gallon aquarium kit at Wal-mart. Put the little rocks and decorations in....fake plants, a castle with holes in it and a dragon. Kit included a filter and heater so I put those in. Added the water...saleslady told I had to put some drops in so the fish could breathe. She said to wait awhile before I put in the six goldfish I just bought, which I did. Plugged everything in...now what? Fish look happy swimming around chasing each other.

I have had 6 Angels in the past 2 months die. They all have started with swimming straight up and what appears to be heavy breathing. They seem to be having trouble getting enough oxygen? I'm not sure. I have changed the water a couple of times in between fish and have used the proper water conditioners. Is there something that is common to Angel Fish that sounds like what I'm talking about?

I have five 1'-2" convict cichlids. Now seeing as they are prolific breeders I got this many and have been waiting for a pair to form for weeks. Correct me if 'm wrong but I though convicts were the rabbits of the fish world and would go at it at first chance. My only explanation is that I have a tank full of females. Not males because they're too big to be as congenial as they are with eachother. The only one who is really aggressive is my biggest one (almost 3") and if that one is a male, why hasn't he picked a mate yet? If it's a female I'd understand since if no males are present a large female will take one the role as dominant female and try to spawn w/ others but w/ no eggs. That's the only thing that makes sense to me unless someone else with maybe a little more experience can help me out. If need be, I have a male at the store that I have on hold for such an occassion. So am I being impatient or do I need to make one last run to my local fish store?

I live in Minnesota and I have recently accepted two free goldfish from a biology teacher at a local school. I bought a 10 gallon aquarium that I thought I could keep them in with my beta, but I've found out that they don't like the temperature and that they grow too big. I refuse to let them die, but is it okay and safe for the fish for me to take them to a lake nearby and let them free? Do goldfish live in lakes? I've head that they dwell in icy rivers, how about icy lakes? I'm just worried about the winter and I want to make sure they'll have other fishy friends in there. Otherwise, where can I take them?
