I have a silver dollar, 2 small angels, 2 small pink convicts and 6 tetra. The danio has disappeared today- was around yesterday. It was quite large for a danio and they have all been sharing a tank for about 3 months with no signs of trouble.

I have a 10 gal. freshwater tank and everything is right on including my pH but I can't seem to get my alkalinity down. The fish don't seem to have any adverse effects but I'm leery to add more fish. I have 2 guppies and 2 mollies in the right now. The only thing abnormal is I'm starting to get alge. My tanks been running for almost 5 months and alkalinity has been very high almost since I started it.

I have a fish who always insists on staying inside a little rock formation at the bottem of the tank, and it never/rarely comes out.
When I go to feed the fish, it will come out sometimes, but not usually.
Not too long ago, I found one of my fish dead in the same rock formation.
It doesn't seem to be caught in there, so why does it always stay in there, even when there's food outside?

I want a Plecostomus, but my dad says that it will grow too big for my 10 gallon tank. I have a tank filled with fresh water fancy guppies. My question is are there any types of Plecostomus that stay small that will be compadable with my tank?

Ugh! Too many problems. Ok so now I took the female Betta out of the tank and I put her in a bowl. Now my male had the eggs up in the nest but when I came back from school today, the were no eggs in the nest just laying on the floor. He's been picking them up and bringing them back up to the nest but they keep falling. Sometimes he wouldn't even bother with them until he see's me then he'll start picking them up again. Will the babies die if there not in the bubble nest?

when placed in a dark environment with a strong blacklight, will the red, orange or green colors be illuminated of these fish, or will it simply be their white stripe along the side that is illuminated? thanks.

In my aquarium there is what appears to be a "fuzz" along the bottom gravel and some of my fish has milky stuff over some of their eyes. What is this and how to I fix it?

I currently have some mushrooms and some very little polyp patches throughout my tank. And I would like to buy some species of polyps and/or Xenia. Basically add some more corals. But I have Aiptasia in my tank which I'm currently treating with Joe's Juice and I'm concerned if the Joe's Juice will affect the polyps or Xenia?

Bought a banana wrasse today and he was introduced to the tank at about 5 his afternoon. He was fine for about half an hour then he completely disappeared. We left him for a wee while, and he didn't turn up. So we turned the tank upside down, took out the bits of the filter and the rock out of the main bit to look for him. After we didn't find him, we did some research, and I now discover that it is quite normal for wrasse to hide in the sand. Now I'm worried that we've put the rock on top of him. I'm really new to the marine tank, and I'm a big worry wart (in case you hadn't guessed).

What should I do now? Just keep an eye on the ammonia etc and hope he turns up? or should I stir up the substrate and try to find him?

Sensible answers please...

Thank you

My cold water fish has developed what appears to be a mass of cotton wool on its tail and is struggling to swim. Her appetite is uneffected, but she has gone a shade of white.
I am heading to the pet shop late tommorrow but I'm hoping someone could give me an idea what it is

I have one of those bubble things for my tank to put oxygen in the water. I woke up this morning and there is lots of foamy bubbles on the top of the tank. It's a ten gallon tank and it only has four fish. Two were dead this morning. I tested the amonia level and is was next to none. They are little molly fish. The only other thing i could think of is that we don't have a working light for the top of the tank. The thermometer says it's 69 degree F. Is the water to cold?

My guppy fry are outgrowing their tank and I thought of donating some to my kids' classrooms (or other classes at the school, whoever is interested) as class pets. Before I do that though, I wanted to find out if they would be ok going without food every weekend, or if I'd have to let the teacher know she'd have to come in and feed them. I know it is OK for them to skip 1 day of feeding sometimes, but I don't know about skipping 2 days in a row every week. I hope someone knows the answer! Thanks!

It's staying under this water oxygen thing and it won't eat. I got him today and I've been putting in tons of puffer fish food and the other fish is eating all of it but the sick one won't do anything. It's a freshwater fish.
