The logic and the formula is very simple..if your fishes are big enough to not fit into the frogs mouth, its always ok to have one, and yes, the tank should have a lid on it too :-)

I kept 2 along with several types of smaller, non-aggressive fish for quite a long time. One of the fish was even a way-too-big-for-the-tank gold fish. The frogs, as well as the rest of the community loved blood worms and would eagerly paddle around trying to get the majority of dinner. I guess my answer is a question....what are your other critters sharing space with the frogs?

Yes, with conditions. These are okay as long as what you get is an African dwarf frog, the tank isn't more than a foot or so deep (they have to surface for air), and the fish you have with them won't pick on them.

It's only the African clawed frogs that eat fish (these include any albino frogs you see in stores) - these get to the size of softballs, where the African dwarfs stay around the size of a quarter.

Yes, as mentioned make sure you get the African dwarf frog variety. Here's a link that explains the differences:

One problem, they don't see very well, so they have a hard time competing with the fish for food. That site also has some suggestions for making sure they're eating/getting food, like using a turkey baster. And you don't want a real tall tank with them, because they need to swim to the surface to get oxygen, fighting the current of the filter, it can be rough lol.

* The little African Dwarf frogs will be okay in a community tank! You will have to be sure to offer a variety of foods! I found that the little frogs like worms!
Edit>>>>>
Blood worms!

Nope. If you do that you will end up with a fat frog and no fish. I learned that lesson the hard way...

i did.. and as long as you feed your frog and the community fish they should be fine. but if you are trying to breed than most of the babies will die.
