when placed in a dark environment with a strong blacklight, will the red, orange or green colors be illuminated of these fish, or will it simply be their white stripe along the side that is illuminated? thanks.

It's the entire fish (see photo: http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0122/csmimg/p14a.jpg)

The gene that's "transplanted" to the fish from corals or jellies is present in all cells of their bodies, so it can't have any one "part" to glow and another to not.

It's not so much that they "glow" themselves as that when the UV light hits them, the light is absorbed, then reflected back in the bright pink, green, orange, or blue color. Once you turn off the light, the fish no long "glow" (although they are still pretty colorful!).

You can find out more about these fish at this website: http://www.glofish.com/

Nothing. Glofish are genetically altered to do so. There are no other actual fish that will fluoresce under a blacklight.
