Fish - September 2007

I'm trying to identifify a plant, I think I might have hornwort, or it would be another family of it? Please list similar plants that look like hornwort? Please?

One misc question: Tetra makes a 50 watt heater for 2-15 gallon? Is that even safe since it's 50 watts? I don't want to take a chance of cooking my favorite betta!

petsmart so far has had the largest but not that "certain" decor i want

i dont want any sunken treasure theme its too .....bleh overused

i have a 5 gallon aquarum an have 2 neon tetra and 2 guppies i just bought another neon tetras from the pet store and a algie eater. its just been the first day and ive noticed one of the tetras seam to be nipping at the other 2 i think its the new one but not to sure. is their a problem or do u think they will stop this behavior?

I bought an Ocellaris Clownfish from my lfs about a month ago. I just noticed that the upper half of its body is turning a light shade of black. it doesnt seem sick, still very active.

I also have a Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish and a maroon and gold clownfish. I dont know if its possible but could it be mimicing the black and white? Could it be a vitimin defficiency? Water Quality is great, what could it be?

I put some shrimp pellets, tropical food and some just regular tetra fish food in my tank in the course of a day. A litle bit less then a pinch of each. My clown loaches just swim up and down on 1 cornor of the tank while the other fish, 2 tin foil and 1 shark fish eat the food. I turn the light out and the 2 clown fish go into a hiding spot in a big hallowed out car I have in the tank. Im getting concerned about eating habbits of them. Any reason for action?

Is their anything I can do about algae growth in my tank.I have tried live plants and plecos.There is 3 goldfish 3blue , cory cats and 4 white clouds.The tank is only 14 gallons and I know goldfish are dirty so don't tell me multiple times that they are messy and my tank is overcrowded.

I need to know how to figure out how many gallons by measuring the inside dimensions, please don't say keep track of what it takes to fill it, lol. Also, will any type of 100% silicon caulk work to seal it? I was told it has a small leak around the base.

I jump started my 30 gallon tank with about 2 pounds of gravel, 5 gallons of water, and the filter from my 10 gallon tank. About how long will my 30 gallon take to cycle? I ran out of master test kits a week ago and haven't been in to buy more.

SO, a few days ago I got a lil fat goldfish. He was a happy fish and stayed at the top of my 5 gallon aquarium, waiting for me to feed him. Him and my two other goldfish and algae eater were very happy.

Then the new one, Prince Albert, died. And Chester and Lily are suddenly very lethargic and uninterested in food or anything, and are missing scales. i'm terrified, i love these fish to death, but I really don't want them to die. Please help me.

Well i went on holiday and left my two goldfish for two weeks. My mum put in clean water water, a new filter, and an automatic fish feeder that feeds them i think twice a day.
But when i came back they were dead, and the fish and the whole tank were covered in slime.
Did they get a disease or something? The filter was still working when i got back...
could it be the fish feeder?

Another question...I've narrowed down the fish I want to several different species-3 to 4 zebra danios,small schools of 4 to 6 cherry barbs,neons,silver dollars,and bleeding hearts,a corydoras catfish,and a couple of pearl gourami.Sound like a compatible group?The danios,cherry barbs,and tetras grow to be no bigger than 2 inches,the silver dollars can get up to 6,cories are no bigger than 2 1/2 generally,and pearl gourami are around 5.Would a 45 gallon tank be reasonable for these fish?
