Well i went on holiday and left my two goldfish for two weeks. My mum put in clean water water, a new filter, and an automatic fish feeder that feeds them i think twice a day.
But when i came back they were dead, and the fish and the whole tank were covered in slime.
Did they get a disease or something? The filter was still working when i got back...
could it be the fish feeder?

Does the fish feeder have an adjustment that controls how much food comes out? It's possible that too much was put in at each feeding and the fish were overfed, leading to too much ammonia (from fish wastes and decaying food) in their tank. I think this would be the most likely cause, especially if no one was checking to see how much food was being released in each feeding.

Also, did your mother use something to take the chlorine/chloramine out of the water if changes were done?

Was the clean water treated with water conditioner? If not, that maybe the reason why they died. Also, sometime those fish feeders don't work too well and feed the fish too much. It's hard to keep fish alive while out of town for that long unless you have someone come and feed them daily.
Also, did your mom emtpy the whole tank and replace all of the water? You are only supposed to change 15%-25% of the water so you keep beneficial bacteria in the aquarium.

every six hours is a lot of food -- you can drastically drop the amount of food you give your fish while you are away -- it makes for a lot cleaner fish enviornment when you can't clean.

the slime was bacteria having their own holiday on all the extra food and 2 dead goldfish.
