I need to know how to figure out how many gallons by measuring the inside dimensions, please don't say keep track of what it takes to fill it, lol. Also, will any type of 100% silicon caulk work to seal it? I was told it has a small leak around the base.

I'd scrape off the old caulk and replace it. You want to be sure what you use is aquarium-safe. Some silicon caulks have mold inhibitors for use in batthrooms, but the label should tell you this. Once you recaulk, you'll need to let the tank sit while the caulk sets, so don't plan to fill the tank today.

If you can measure the tank, just plug the measurements into this online calculator: http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/converter/volume-calculator.php If the exact amount of water volume is important (dosing water treatments, medication) measure on the inside of the glass.

To find the number of gallons your tank holds measure the inside in inches only. Multiply the inch measurement of the width, height, and depth together then divide by 231.

Example: 24" wide X 20.5" tall X 12" depth = 5904.
5904 divided by 231 = 25.5 Gallons

As far as your leak, I have use regular silicon for small emergency repairs. This is not ussually recommended though. It is better to get aquarium grade silicon. If you MUST ust regular silicon you can get away with it if it is a VERY small amount compared to the total number of gallons the tank holds. I would recommend that you just get the proper silicon, it is only a few dollars for a tube big enough to fix a decent size leak.

Whatever you use to repair it with, after it is COMPLETELY dry set it on a flat surface outside or where water leaks won't hurt and fill it all the way up. Let it sit for a day or two to make sure the water is not slowly leaking out.

35 7/8" Length
11" wide
6" deep
This will be real close to 10 gallons.Since you didn't give us the measurements maybe you can use this as a estimate for yours and you need to make sure that it says aquarium safe on the tube of silicon.

Not any silicone will do. You will need to purchase special aquarium silicone. This is because normal sealant often contains fungicides and other chemicals that can leach into your tank and kill the fish.

use this tank calculator, it has helped me many times.
