I have 4 Cory cats in with Otocinclus and a few other fish. And My catfish do not bother my otocinclus (algae eater) at all. They act like the OTO isn't even there. Be sure to feed your algae eater more than just the algae in your tank. They will eat Algae wafers. I put a wafer in my tank in the evening before i go to bed every nite. Some of my fish also like these and so do my African Dwarf frogs. Good Luck

It all depends on the size of the catfish and the size of the algae eater. If the algae eater is small enough to fit in the catfishes mouth, and especially if it is a Chinese algae eater or ottocinclus, than yes they will. Catfish will eat anything they can fit into their mouths.

i think of it may remember what form of algae eater that's which you have. Otos would not concern a stay fish, and as herbivores, extra effective than probable would not practice lots pastime in a ineffective one. maximum plecos would not concern stay fish the two, yet would desire to eat one that grew to become into ineffective - those are not strictly herbivores as maximum beole think of, and that they'll additionally eat shrimp, worms, and different small animals they had locate interior the substrate the place they stay. they do now not concepts ingesting different products interior the tank the two, yet none of those i've got saved will harass their tankmates, even nonetheless they'd grow to be territorial as they age. If that's a chinese language algae eater, in spite of the indisputable fact that, i could say that's an outstanding danger it now not in basic terms ate the fish, yet killed it. those gets to be 10" aggressive fish that should not be alongside with your guppies. they only eat algae as juveniles, yet eat the slime coats of alternative fish as they mature. As they eat the preserving slime coat on smaller fish, this reasons them dissimilar rigidity and leaves them open for connect via parasites and different infections. so which you have 2 probable eventualities for what took place - the guppy dies of organic reasons/previous age and the different guppies and in step with possibility the algae eater ate it, in any different case you have a chinese language algae eater which killed and ate the fish (and in step with possibility a number of the others helped with ingesting). And only to suitable something stated in an in the previous answer, whilst a fish dies, it generally would not flow as we talk yet sinks. The micro organism interior the intestine are nevertheless alive and proceed to break down food interior the intestine, which produce gasses as a result. It those gasses that at final reason the fish to drift (or land animals to bloat). So interior the time as we talk after demise, the fish could nevertheless be on the backside the place the fish would have definitely eaten it.
