I've had my tank a little over a month now, and i've been waiting for one of my platys to get pregnant. No luck. Finally i got fed up and went to the pet store to get guppies to add to the tank.

and i actually bought a pregnant one :) yay for me!

any advice on how pregnant she is if her black gravid spot is really small? how will i know when to move her in a breeding box/net?

She will get very big and have a squarely appearance about her, which the following article will show you in a video
http://www.fishlesscycling.com/articles/breeding_tropical_fish.html

Once she has a squarely appearance you can put her in a breeder, which i however don't recommend, because it's healthier and less stressful for the female if you buy live plants for your tank instead where the fry can hide in

Hope that helps
Good luck

If the gravid spot really small, you might have to wait a bit. When guppies are about to give birth, it gets quite large.

oh yeah, what idiot thought of that answer above me?!?
oh well, it'll get deleted, and he'll get reported too :P
