Hi I set up a 24 gallon aquapod marine tank. It has 10.5 lbs of LR and 20 lbs of LS in it. It has been set up since last sunday. I got a product called phos-x from a LFS that was closing. It says it removes nitrates, nitrites, and phospahtes. After my cycle, would it be advantagous to add this to the water? It is a little packet.

Thanks....

BTW, there are no fish in the water, just a few snails and hermits I got for free to aid the cycle.

That packet will ruin the cycle, so DEFINITELY don't use it while the cycle is in progress. Most of the time, those little packets of miracle liquid are complete frauds and do nothing but mask the readings on test kits. The only real way to remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate from a tank is by doing water changes (vacuuming the substrate).

I would not..After your cycle the nitrites, ammonia and all will go to 0 on there own..You can control the nitrates with water changes and macroalgae..I would only add additives to a marine tank when it is needed the less you put in your tank the better..
