I got a 30 gallon tank that's going to be freshwater and the only place I can find for it is in the living room in front of the window and above the air conditioning vent. I don't know if this is ok or not. The window is the window in front of the porch so it doesn't get too hot, the roof on the porch blocks most and I also have curtains up, well they are sheer but still block some light. Also right in the center of the window is the air conditioning vent, I am wondering if that will be a problem? Thanks.

Hi,
Does anyone know the growth rate of a red tail catfish? My Husband is keen to keep them but is cautious about the size they ultimately become. We have the opportunity to have a 6cm fry now & we have an empty 4ft tank but were wondering how long before we would need to upgrade. Does anyone know how long it takes to grow. A local fish shop has had theirs for three years, he is about a foot long in a 10ft tank and he seems to have grown little in that time. Also any general hints would be great.
Thanks

I am thinking of ordering a betta from bettatalk.com, i would split a turquoise pair and only get the male, it's 50.00 $ for the pair and which in turn if i got the male im hopping it would go down to maybe 25 or 30? does that sound like too much or is it just me being cheap! oh and also on betta talk they say it takes about 380 $ to breed bettas is that true because if it is im not breeding them.

I do not do full water changes but once a year and I just did it 2 weeks ago. Now, already the water looks like swamp water. It is all green and cloudy looking. I have two Algae eaters in there because it is a big tank and there is an angel fish, beta fish, and a bubble eyed goldfish. I have tried all kinds of stuff and spent about 50.00 on chemicals. I am going crazy. Also, are you suppose to turn off the tank light every night or could this bee the cause of some of the greenish water?? Please help. any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

hi, the time has come to clean my fish tank D:
i dont mean a simple water change but cleaning the tank itself since the tank has small amounts of this brown "thing"
so whats the easiest way to clean a 20 gallon without lifting the tank? (its wayyy to heavy)

i dont want to remove the fish cuz the loaches are impossible to catch....

-btw, the loaches still hide the only time i see them active is at night. but they run away when they see something move outside of the tank.
and i got them a while ago now.

Hey guys~

I recently obtained a betta from a roommate who decided she didn't want to care for it anymore, and I'd like to move him from his 1 gallon bowl to a larger tank (maybe around 5-10 gallons). I know it's not really necessary, but I just want to make him happy, you know? ^_^

So, my fish expert friends, what can I do to make sure the stress of switching environments doesn't kill the little guy? Any tips or tricks for me?
