HELP! My goldfish is lying on its side, very lethargic, but sometimes gets up and darts around for a few seconds, then goes back to lying on its side (not its back). What can I do???

Yup. That sounds like either bad water conditions or internal parasites.

Change the water, first off. Is your goldfish in a bowl? Shouldn't be there. Goldfish grow over a foot in length and produce too much ammonia for bowls. If you want him to live buy a large tank with a good filter. If he isn't in a bowl and he is in a large tank, change some water (40%) and just watch the fish within the next few days, changing about 10% water per day.

Sorry about your goldfish.

Sounds like bad water conditions. Check the ammonia level in the tank. If you don't have a test kit remove about 25% of the water and replace with new treated water.
