I just noticed he's made a grouping of some bubbles in the corner of his tank. What does this mean?

It does mean he wants to mate... Bettas and some species of gouramis are whats called "bubble nesters" after the female drops her eggs he will put them in his bubbles and keep them safe. Once they hatch he will help them stay at the top until they are able to swim on they're own then you want to take the male out as he will eat the babies... Breeding them isnt easy but its a gorgeous process if you can get it to work... just make sure you do LOTS of research first and even then I dont really recommend it. I've done it and you wind up with HUNDREDS of fish and you cant sell them to a pet store until they're almost a year old.

Betta's build bubble nests when they are healthy and happy. It could be a sign that he is ready to mate. They won't harm the water in any way.

it relatively is a bubble nest. known. it rather is not desirous to mate in any respect. It does no longer teach signs and warning signs of happiness or something. They do it interior the dirtiest and smallest save containers. it relatively is a fantasy that it rather is all of those issues. lots of the time, it relatively is to declare territory and teach that it relatively is their area. the only time it relatively is rather doing it to mate, is after weeks of conditioning him with stay nutrition and on the portion of breed him.

Beta fish do this. Beta fish do not have gills like other fish. They come up to the surface for air. The bubbles have something to do with this but it is not a bad thing. I just don't know how they use the bubbles.
