I got a 30 gallon tank that's going to be freshwater and the only place I can find for it is in the living room in front of the window and above the air conditioning vent. I don't know if this is ok or not. The window is the window in front of the porch so it doesn't get too hot, the roof on the porch blocks most and I also have curtains up, well they are sheer but still block some light. Also right in the center of the window is the air conditioning vent, I am wondering if that will be a problem? Thanks.

You could do it but do everything you can to block the sunlight and keep a close eye on the tempature. To be safe I would say test it. Set up the tank with all the accesories but dont put any fish in it...get a good thermometer for the tank and measure the tempature several times a day for a week or 2...if the tempature fluctuates alot I would say its not safe because the fluctuating tempatures can kill the fish. If it maintains the tempature for a week...get a fish or 2...let the tank cycle...if they survive the cycling...I'd say you are safe!

I would recommend placing a background on the tank and on the sides if any sunl;ight at all hits the sides.

Also take a trip to a local hardware store and get a deflector for the A/C vent that will deflect the air flow from the tank. Otherwise you should be just fine.

That is not a good place to put a tank. The vent will conduct cold air and it will make the tank colder. Also the heat from outside will make the tank more hotter.Good Luck!

yes that will cause problems, try another location, to much temperature fluctuation and algae growth would be awful. try to keep a few feet form heating/ac vents and windows

ok magic has a good alternative, just wrap the background around the sides if need be
