Is it possible to keep 1 Tiger Barb, or do you have to have 5 or more?

You can keep just one, but it will be a constant problem for any other fish in the tank. Also, they are generally healthier when kept in a group.

Are we talking about the Asian Datnoid or the common tetra tiger? I generally call my Datnoid when communicating with MM the tiger barb, and it would make a difference actually. Datnoid tiger barbs really would want to be by themselves, and if its the Tetra tiger barb, then ditto on MM, they are a schooling fish and would do better in a group.

You should keep them in a group, they will be much happier and healthier

you could but it would probably not be very happy the best is to get at least 5 but i don't recommend getting tiger barbs because you cant put very many fish in with them because they are fin nippers
