So, my friend looked after the class crawdads back in elementary school, and one morning when we checked on them it looked like one had exploded. There were two live crawdads left in the pool and then tons a little floating bits and mush, from the third.

I'm just wondering - is this something that goes wrong with crawdads often? And did it really explode? I just remembered this and was hoping somebody could explain what went on. Thanks!

There's a "bubble" looking tissue hanging on it's body; is this an "egg" sac waiting to be released? or it's some kind of a fungal infection? ; or if it doesn't lay eggs- do the babies come out from it's body (from the sac clinging to the fish)?

My betta fry hatched 4 days ago...as i learned on the internet, it's better to have a batch of betta fry foods ready once they are free swimming already. I've been very diligent in feeding them. I have microworm culture ready and some infusoria for back up. the problem is, they don't seem to be eating/feeding at all. i can see a few that wander about, searching for food and gobbles up the first squiglging microworm they see...but for the most of the fry, they just stay together as a group in 1 corner or stay at the surface of the water, and won't budge even w/ microworms squggling nearby...is this normal or something's wrong w/ them?

I have had my Betta for about 2 years. He recently had a sore on his face that looked cottony. So I tried Fungus Clear (which did nothing) then I tried Maracyn. The Maracyn seemed to make him feel better, but didn't really clear up his face. Now he has been pretty much paralyzed for the last 4 days. He hasn't eaten that I know of. And the only way you can tell that he isn't dead, is by tapping on the aquarium glass and he moves. I now have him in a little net (loose so he can move)close to the top of the water so he can get gulps of air (which he hasn't done.). Is there anything I can do? Or is it too late? Also, his back is curved and he can't use his tail fin.

Saltwater (for those who don't know)

He was fine this morning, very cheerful.

My blue hippo tang is lying on the bottom of the tank dying, he has lost all his coloring. What is going on? None of the other fish seem sick, just him. I checked all Ph, nitrate/ite and others and they are all within normal range. The temp is 77 degrees...What could be happening? He has only been in our tank for 3 days.

I added a spotted green puffer & 6 mollies to my 55 gallon tank this past Saturday (June 16). The other day, one of my albino cory cats came up missing.....Found him yesterday almost completely eaten!!! I have the tetraodon nigrovidis not the tetraodon fluviatilis, which is the venomous one to my understanding.

Today, my sucker fish is dead. :( I fed them and saw my sucker swimming along the bottom. An hour later, I found my sucker dead with his sucker eaten OFF and his eyes eaten too. :(

I've NEVER seen my puffer snip at any of my fish. I've seen the mollies chase a few around, but not enough to hurt any. Everytime I feed the fish, the puffer stays away. In fact, I haven't noticed him eating at all......Do you think that the puffer is the one killing my other fish or could it be the mollies? Everything was peaceful in my tank until they came along. :(

I've bought 7 neon tetras, 3 kissing gouramis, 4 angelfish, 3 bala sharks, and three parrot cichlids, and one baby oscar. I've put all these fish already in the tank for about 2 days already.

I have a pleco, betta, and 8 small neon tetras that all get along VERY well with absolutley no problems. I bought an angel fish yesterday and the man at the pet store said they should get along fine. I was watching my fish this evening and i noticed that my betta was VERY unsettled he generally just floats around the top or he will stay near the school of tetras. I watched more closley and realized the angel fish was following him around and nipping his fins. My betta fins have colors in it I have never seen before in a betta. They are BEAUTIFUL, as you may or may not be able to tell I am not willing to let my betta(who I love and adore the tank revolves around him and what mixes well with him) get his beautiful fins shredded. I also am not going to be able to take him out of the tank since I A) don't have any distilled water and B) don't have a tank to put him in. Is my angel fish just nasty or is this normal behavior? I have him caught in the fish net and it is set so it can't

I know I've probably misspelled "anemone." :) My daughter is dying for a saltwater tank (I'm thinking 30 gallons, max) and some clown fish. My knowledge of clownfish is pretty much limited to Nemo. Do they get along with one another? Are they better off alone? Do you need one of those anemonme things for their home? What's the care involved with that? We've had a freshwater tank with goldfish... how much harder would you say saltwater will be? She's been talking about getting clownfish for over a year (since we gave our other tank to neighbors when we moved cross-country and I promised her we'd get another fish tank after we moved). Well, it's a year later and I was hoping she'd forget, but alas...
Any advice is much appreciated.

I found few small starfish on the beach. I'm gonna wait until they die to put them in the fish tank. What is the best way to preserve these starfish? How do I put them in the water without them being so stink when they die?

once i had a goldfish in a ten gallon tank with one golfish in it and after a couple of months I added a black moor. Of course, I thought my goldfish was totally pissed about this but they seemed to get along well enough. But when I woke up........well, the black moor was at the bottom with most of his skin ripped off and the goldfish was upside down at the top just barely alive looking totally torn up and he had a huge gash on his side! How does a frigg'n fish without teeth do that!?!?!
( my mom made me flush the gldfish alive):

I know I've been asking a lot of questions concerning my fish but I have not been precise enough.

I'd like to know everything I need to know about caring for a single male Betta. Including what snails, plants, food, lighting, tank size, and anything else you guys know about them.

I just bought two fish and I forget what they're called.
There are big ones but I bought the smaller ones.
They're back and small and chubby with buldgy eyes.
I'm almost positive their name started with an M.
Any ideas?
