I know..I know...I'm a lucky lady! I have a fish that has Ick and tail rot. One other fish that has Ick and two other fish that seem like they're okay (for now). I bought Ick medication and Fungus medication. Can I treat them together at the same time?

Also, how long does it take to treat these problems? Any thoughts?

My dad has this clown fish is his saltwater tank and our clown fish always hides in the corner and takes a pepple off of the bottom of the tank and carries it to the corner.
This has been happening for about a month and a half but hasn't been laying any eggs
Is my fish going to lay eggs or is it doing something else?

I have been working for months on introducing a pair of Angel fish to my 30G tank. I have one angel who has lived for at least 6-8 weeks and I added a new angel this past Sunday which seems to be doing great. This one is a bit bigger than the other angel, but seems peaceful. Tonight I noticed 3 dead neon tetras. Could my new angel have done it? Is there a disease that would kill the neons that could have been introduced when I added the new fish....I added one angel and one neon tetra this week-end. Ammonia has not spiked and the nitrate levels are similar or slightly elevated from the day I added the fish. My guppies seem fine. What killed these three fish that isn't hurting the others?

i just started a new 90 gal tank with a power filter that has been on an established tank for years. i added a few fish and of course i got a small ammonia spike. problem is that my test kit reads for "total ammonia." my question is how much total ammonia would be considered harmful?, or how much un-ionized ammonia would be considered harmful to freshwater angels?
i'm also giving them water changes daily just to be on the safe side, but i'd like to make sure im not at the "danger" zone.

in my african cichlid tank, my ph is at about 7.8 and i need it at at 8-8.2 ph.
i have alkaline buffer which is what my fish store told me to use. it worked fine and all when i first set my tank up, and raised my ph from 7.4 to 8-8.2 after about 2 or 3 doses. its directions say, add 1 teaspoon full to each ten gallons daily until desired ph is reached, preferientially buffers at 7.8 but can manage any ph from that to 8.6
how much should i add to bring my 29 gallon african tank up from a 7.8 to 8-8.2?

also, someone at my fish store told me that they used a pinch of baking soda to raise there ph...any one ever done this before? is it harmfull to fish, and how much to add?

thanks a lot.

I recently started filling my new 55 gallon aquarium and I started with 10 fish. 6 Black Neons, 2 Red Rasboras, and 2 scissortails. The scissortails and rasboras are pretty small. I was out for the day today and when I came back I saw what had become a school of just 5 black neons and i can't seem to find the other one in the tank. Is it possible he was eaten?

My friends and me were talking tonight about changing water in an aquarium. The question came up; "How do places like Sea World with Dolphins and Whales change water"? Is it pumped directly from the ocean? Do they just keep it well filtered?

How important are those white Bio-Fiber pads that come with some of those hangin' filters. Mine is pretty dirty and I can't get it any cleaner. I have also looked at stores but haven't seen any replacements without buying a whole new filter.

I just added a new angelfish to my aquarium and it is already doing head stands and appears to be gasping for air at the surface, though angelfish are not anabantids. My water parameters are as follows:
Ph~6.5
nitrate ~10 ppm
nitrite ~0 ppm
ammonia~ 0.1ppm
Total hardness~ 120 ppm
Alkalinity ~ 40 ppm

the other fish ( 2 silver hatchetfish, 1 khulii loach) and 2 crabs , noumerous snails and a few glass shimp are doing fine. It is a 10 US Gallon well-planted tank. anything else I missed?

well if you could help me with my angelfish I would be most grateful.

thank you in advance, Czar.

I had the fish tank and the filter and a rock. So i put it all together and went to buy some fish. Two small gold fish and two small weird black ones with big heads. So i put the fish. My filter is like a waterfall, the water falls down in the tank and bubbles are made, did i put the filter right? Also the lady in walmart she saw me with the fish and i ask her what food i should buy and when i should feed them, and she said to buy the "Wardley Essentials Goldfish Flakes" and she said to feed them two times a day. Did she gave me the right info? How often should i feed them and what if she was wrong. Where can i buy rocks and sand for the fish, i want to decorated. If there something else i should know please tell me, if you know of a site for newbies with fish please posted thanks.

I plan on putting my tank on my dresser because it's got a lot of space and is very sturdy. I large mirror is attached to the back of my dresser. I've heard that some fish may think that their reflection is another fish and will smack its head into the side of the tank to get to the "other fish". Is this true? I don't want my fish to bust their heads open.
